Comics aren't exactly famous for being queer friendly, but they've been making strides to try to fix that. As a person who doesn't read a lot of superhero comics, I was pleasantly surprised to see the variety and diversity of characters in this book.
As a comics casual reader, I'm still left feeling like I'm missing a lot of the stories and that always bothers me a little bit. But on the other hand, if I really wanted to know more I guess I'd have to read more comics. It's a tough balance to strike. What I need is a character background 101 for each character!
These colorful bios are definitely a step in that direction though. They give that very shallow overview of the characters origins and how they got to where they are.

Great compendium of queer superfolk. As the book says, this is an awesome starting point for people who might want to get into DC comics but not know where to start, especially if they really want to see themselves in the story.

This is a nice coffee table book: it's meant to be dipped in and out of, rather than read cover to cover. That said, the youngest member of the household did exactly that. I found it useful to get a vibe for characters in the DC Pride 2021, and I expect it will assist with an upcoming read of DC Pride: The New Generation. I found the book lacking in detail, really only giving vibes and barebones background. However, it includes quite a few characters, and I was pleased to see the book also has each character's pronounces.

A great collective (fictional) biography from DC. The art is absolutely stunning! The write-ups are brief, but do hit the high notes of the character and give you a good feel for them. My only complaint is that there's no area to explicitly state their LGBTQ+ identities.
