This is the first “horror” book I read, and I waited forever to read it and I wanted to like this book so much. It was boring.

It was weird. It was gross. But not in a horror way.

Also, the writing was just. Terrible. The story is constantly interrupted by something that looks like articles from after the events of the book, but the articles don’t really contribute anything.

This storyline was so good, I somewhat knew what was going to happen, but it still kept me hooked. The writing style was interesting, there was a lot of jumping from research/book/interview excerpts to the actual story of what Carrie was up to, which was interesting but also a little distracting and it took me out of the story a bit with the constant change.
I'm still glad I gave this book a go, I very much enjoyed this story, I think I might give some other of his books a read.

For so many years, I was convinced I would never attempt to read another Stephen King novel. Maybe I shouldn't have tried to read Salem's Lot when I was 13.

But I'm so glad that I have a friend who loves King and convinced me to read this one. It's not really scary at all! But so good! In fact, I liked it even more than the movie, just because the writing is so captivating and you get a bigger picture of everything.

Stephen King's first novel. Surprisingly short. Surprisingly literary. It's a tale as old as time that probably doesn't need my review. I swallowed it whole, and boy, was it painful. Planning on reading Tiffany D. Jackson's [b:The Weight of Blood|59811244|The Weight of Blood|Tiffany D.
