it’s a bit… eh? like it only was interesting by third book. Not to mention that it was only like a little interesting enough for me. Then this last book was okay. Meh.

Sort of a meh ending to the series (I refuse to acknowledge the rest of the books). There wasn't really much character development except Tye's turn at the obligatory "I want you but won't let myself have you for stupid reasons". There also wasn't much development of Lera's powers. The author mustn't be very good at writing action because once again, it's over very quickly in one confrontation, theres no tension.
Also Lera dying and coming back to life as far was fucking stupid lol. Didn't care for it at all.
Oh well, the series started with a lot of potential but it just sort of keeps giving more of the same and not really paying off on all its cool concepts.

I didn't dislike it. I suppose I'm just disappointed at the constant theme of Lera being a damsel in distress, that puts the guys in danger. I don't really feel like there was any growth. And she feels like she just gets sillier. Like, I get she's scared of weaving, but when we're looking at certain death and the end of the world, you're a moron if you are scared of using your magic. Literally nothing you could do would make the situation worse.

Honestly, even the guys don't seem very smart - they walk into bad situations with no real plan ... and have been doing that from the beginning of the series. Just winging it might be great when you're a patrolling quint, but from their arrival at the Citadel through the climax of this book and the end of the series, they never really made functioning plans, and even their half-baked plans always failed utterly. *sigh*

The ending was a bit wish-fullfill-ish, but I'm okay with that. What I'm not okay with is still knowing nothing about Lera. We're done with a 4 book series, and we still don't know anything about the threads of her past that we got in the first book. Who is she? Why can't she remember anything of her childhood? In book 1 she said she didn't remember anything before being bought by Zake. The implication, when you drop a thread like that, is that the info is important and will be revealed. But no, it isn't. *sigh*

I hated the ending (way too spicy) so looking forward to the next one!

Transfixing conclusion

This book felt the most intense of the whole series. Lera truly comes into her own and then gets a cool gift. For a bit, I worried this wouldn't have a happy ending but the ending was unexpected and beautiful.
