Bernie is an incredibly interesting person, and it's unfortunate he doesn't talk about himself or his personal life more (while a selfish quality, I wouldn't mind hearing about his personal life for hours on end; he's that interesting).
This book is a re-print of his book "Outsider in the House" which documented both his rise in politics and his re-election campaign to the House of Representatives in 1998. It works for the most part, though it is noticeably unpolished (like the man himself) and often repetitive in its usage of terminology.

Kinda strange in the way it jumps back and forth between "present day" 1996 and pre-1996 past (without clear transitions), but it was very fun to read about the ins and outs of his past campaigns and time in the House. And, as always, Bernie is on point about everything. I do wish there had been more focus on his presidential run, though. Even the afterword spent most of its time talking about how he got into the Senate/his last decade in the Senate. Ah well.

If I wasn't Feeling the Bern before, I certainly am now. Before reading Outsider in the White House, I was a fan of Bernie and much of his platform, but regarded some of his ideas as idyllic pipe dreams. I stand corrected. It is absolutely possible to implement them all (and that includes reducing the National Debt.) My favorite chapter of the book outlines how. I wasn't able to vote in a primary in my state (I'm a registered Independent living in New York which doesn't have open primaries) so I'm not feeling any regret, but if an election were held tomorrow—assuming I'm allowed to vote—I'd be voting for Bernie. #FeelTheBern
Tip for future readers: I read this as an e-book, but I would highly recommend getting your hands on a hard copy instead. Most of the book switches between two different storylines/time periods and I have a feeling that the actual book makes following along a lot easier.

I liked Bernie Sanders. I voted for him. I like him even more after reading this book. I wish things had gone differently in the Democratic nomination.
