It took me forever to finish this book, and I honestly didn’t like it. The last third of the book was so slow. It was painful to read the description of Thailand as “poor, dirty, etc Rosie’s whole conversation with K was cringy. Asking how K had kids. Then K basically making Rosie feel better. It was full on white centering I started seriously skimming. The end was also very cheesy and too happy ending / live, laugh, love. From the beginning, the binary gendering was annoying. Then just threads of microaggressions from Mr Tongo being described as “every nationality”
Overall, I’d recommend skipping this book.

The actual prose of this book is well done, but this is a really problematic representation of trans kids. It focuses so much on th opinions and feelings of cis people instead of trans people. There is also some really gross orentialism in the later section of the book. Don't read this if you are looking for a LGBT book. Find a trans author instead.
