Chasing You is Book Four in the Thirsty Hearts series by Kris Jayne. It can be read as part of the series or a standalone novel. The POV alternates between the two main characters, Graham and Alexa. I gave this novel 4 out of 5 stars. This novel had it all: romance, sarcasm, levity, and a great storyline.

Alexa Stevens is a gorgeous and successful woman running her own gym. She doesn’t need a man to complete her. Of course when she feels this way, two men enter her life vying for her attention: an ex and a recent fling. Her recent fling also turns out to be the landlord of the building her gym resides in. Mixing business with pleasure? Rarely works out, but she may take that chance. Or will she choose her ex?

Graham Ryan is a hot charismatic real estate developer who happens to own the building her gym resides in. They have also met before, in a hot one night stand on New Year’s. She seems to want nothing to do with him, which never happens to him. He can’t get her out of his mind, and proceeds to pursue her though she resists. It’s a huge conflict of interest, and though he hates mixing business with pleasure he can’t let her go.

Chasing You is aptly named, because there is a definite chase! The attraction & resistance between the two main characters had me on the edge of my seat waiting to see what would happen? Alexa is used to being independent and can’t bring herself to commit to a relationship. Graham doesn’t want any business conflicts, but he’s never felt more strongly for any woman like he feels for her. Will they get together? That’s for you to find out. I hope to read more from this engaging author!

While reading a romance novel, you should actually enjoy hanging with the main couple. Even in the midst of whatever conflict they are having -- be it real or imagined, angsty or cute -- you should want to enjoy their presence and enjoy watching the work their way together as they overcome their obstacles.

I did not like hanging with Alexa and Graham. Actually, Graham wasn't so bad at least he makes it clear he wants to pursue Alexa. But Alexa was such a puzzle. Her headspace was irritating. Like, what exactly did she even want? Sometimes even when you are in her head you don't know. It felt like she was pushing Graham away just because the author just didn't want them to get together too soon. And her reasoning lacked maturity at times.

Added to that these two just didn't know how to communicate with each other. They never talked, just made assumptions that then translated into stupid actions.

Also there were too many exes and other external people inserted as obstacles, which again led to lack of communications and bad assumptions.

I just wanted the two characters to actually try. I wanted to breathe with them and enjoy their company. But instead they sniped and fought and pushed away (well, mostly Alexa).

I gave up. Not enjoyable.

Chasing You by Kris Jayne is the 4th book in the Thirsty Heart Series. Although part of a series it can be read as a standalone book.

This is the first book that I have read from this series and by this author. Overall I enjoyed the book but it did take me a bit of time to get into it and I thought that the second half of the book was better than the first half and this is where the story really started to pick up pace and therefore my captured my attention.

In this book we read Alexa's story. I believe that Alexa also features in the novella 'Her London Fling' which takes place in time before this story does, however it is not necessary to have read it before Chasing You.
Alexa is an ex-model who now runs her own gym and is happily single - she's having far too much fun to get tied down to one man!
For Graham Ryan, mixing business with pleasure is bound to cause him problems so keeping things casual with Alexa works perfectly for him - but does he secretly want more??
Alexa's old flame Adam comes into town with the intention of making Alexa his and to her he's everything Graham is not - but as time goes by Alexa can't decide who she wants - they are both chasing her but can she make the right choice before its too late?

As I was reading this book I sometimes had the urge to bang Alexa and Graham's heads together - at the beginning I found their relationship quite frustrating. I found the first part of the story just conversations between the pair and not much story. It wasn't until Adam arrived that the story really started to pick up the pace and I started to enjoy it a lot more.
To be fair I liked Graham's character from the beginning, he was funny and had a romantic side to him (even if it took a while to come out) and it was pretty obvious how much he loved Alexa.
I wasn't quite sure about Alexa's character, yes she was strong and independent but I did find her a little frustrating at times. I wonder whether reading 'Her London Fling' may have given me a little more insight into her.
You also get a little background of the other characters in the story so I'm interested to go and read their individual stories too.

Overall I would give Chasing You by Kris Jayne 4 stars and would recommend it. It starts slow but is a good read and I did enjoy it.

Chasing You (Thirsty Hearts Book 4) by Kris Jayne is the fourth book in the Thirsty Heart series. This book is will make you laugh, feel sadness at times and is excitement. This story will show you what happens when someone has a problem committing to someone.

Alexa Stevens is a woman who is an ex-model and has just bought a gym. She feels that there is so much masculine in the world, why just settle down with one man? She meets him, will she change her mind? When her ex comes to town, what will happen? Who will she choose? He was a one night fling so she thought until he comes through the gym doors as the new landlord. Will they keep their relationship professional? Two men want her, how can she choose, who will she choose?

Graham Ryan is a real estate developer who just purchased a building. He meets her one night then she just seems to disappear until he walked into her gym. What will happen when he meets the woman he can't seem to forget? He realizes that there is a conflict of interest, but its a conflict he doesn't want. Will he change is his mind? When she starts spending time with her ex will he change his mind about wanting her?

Alexa and Graham's story is one that is a push and pull relationship. She doesn't want to commit and he doesn't want conflicts. Will they both deny what is between them? Will they stop fighting the forces and just be together? Their story is one where they will have you keep wanting more until the end. They will pull you into their world of fighting commitment. What will happen with them in the end?

This is my first read by Kris Jayne. Kris lives in Dallas with her dogs. She is a devoted writer, reader and traveler. Her passion for writing is only matched by her passion for traveling. This story is a fast read that will have you turning page after page until the end. You will get lost in this book and lose track of time. I highly suggest this story as I know you will love it as much as I have.

Chasing You is the fourth book in the Thirsty Hearts series by Kris Jayne. This is the first book by Ms. Jayne that I have read and I can’t believe I hadn’t discovered this author before now. Even though the book is part of a series, it can be read and easily followed without having to read the other books first. But, after reading this one and liking it so much, I will definitely be exploring all her other books!
Ex-Model, now personal trainer, gym owner and true commitment “phobe”- Alexa Stevens lives a jet-set life style. She is all about excitement and adventure- especially when it comes to men. With so many to choose from, why settle down?
After ‘letting go’ a little too much at a New Year’s Eve party, Alexa wakes up next to a stranger, with little recollection of the night before. She flees the hotel, wanting to avoid all the awkwardness that comes with the ‘morning after’ a one-night-stand.
Graham Ryan takes his business very seriously, he works hard- so when it comes to his own, personal time, he plays just as hard. He appreciates a beautiful woman, for a while anyway- but he doesn’t do long-term relationships. He also doesn’t mix business with pleasure, as that only leads to unwanted complications. Will Alexa become the exception to his rule?
Adam Gadsby and Alexa have history, it may not have been long, but for him it was incredibly memorable. He has arrived in town on business, all the way from London. While he’s in town Adam hopes to re-connect with her and rekindle what they began back in London. He knows what he wants and that’s Alexa. Will he be able to convince Alexa that what they shared is worth exploring some more?
There is definite love triangle happening. Alexa has two sexy, successful men who are vying for her affections. How will she know which one is ‘THE ONE’? Will she be able to make a choice, or will her commitment issues lead her to walk away from them both?
Ms. Jayne writes beautifully. She was able to infuse just the right amount of tension, suspense and surprise into the plot. The way she constructed the story and its various elements, was very clever.
The story is entertaining and does contain some really funny moments. There were moments of frustration through it for me though, as I really wanted to shake Alexa and Graham- with all the angst and push-pulling that was going on!
The story had a good pace from about halfway through the book; I found the beginning a little “slow” to get going. But from that point on it moved quickly I found myself enjoying it a lot more.
It is told from a duel POV and has a HEA.
This is a fun, flirty, witty, light hearted and entertaining story.

Thank you Ms. Jayne.

I was able to locate a Box Set of this series where there was the #3.5 novella and the next book included, since they blend as one and man, both of them deserve a very floppy 2.5 but I'll round up to an average weak 3-rating for both.

Okay, so... we open Book 4 up and Alexa is in bed with a 3rd guy from a NEW YEAR's party she and her friends held and she's slept with this new bed-warmer.

Come to find out, Graham - the male MC - is her building’s new landlord for her business and well, she tells us [the readers] she doesn't mix business with pleasure but it isn't long before Graham is warming her bed once again. Oh, and now, apparently, Graham is the same exact person as Alexa is because he's got a fuck buddy on the side he uses when he can't get Alexa back in his bed the first few times she refuses him until she doesn't anymore.

I swear these two idiots were perfect for one another and they continued to not just be rude and cruel to one another [and themselves] but they were fucking hypocrites, as well.

A new yoga instructor comes to interview with Alexa's gym...and it's one of Graham's old fuck buddies...and he does a dumb thing...

I mean, it's like this Author wanted to write a revenge book about 2 people she knew in her life and tried to show us [the readers] how childish, selfish and immature these two were being but were PERFECT for one another.

Anyway, Alexa breaks with Graham... and Adam [from Alexa's vacay in Bk 3.5] is there to be her Boyfriend-for-NOW and then he becomes like a crazy-person stalker; this was the Author's easy way of getting rid of an unwanted man so she could clear the road for Alexa and save her from getting rid of Adam like a fucking ADULT would.

Everything that befell Alexa was mainly her own damn fault for stringing him along and then never allowing her ties to Graham to be severed. No wonder it made Adam crazy-pants because Alexa was hoping to keep BOTH men in her pocket, for you know...certain purposes.

Not so shockingly she ends up having a dumb HEA with Graham even though everyone was screaming at him that Alexa wouldn't commit to him or say she had feels or even liked/loved him, like he did for her, but then again...man, TOXIC PEOPLE who eventually married so they can be toxic together.

Good riddance to this very unromantic romance book. And possibly the last one from this Author I will read in awhile.

I have never seen an Author HATE their characters the way this one does...sheesh...
