Everything Leads to You was a nice summer book. It features a senior who is getting ready for a busy summer before college. She's got an amazing job in the movie industry. That was a fun part of the book. I enjoyed seeing how a set can be put together. Emi has just gone through a breakup and becomes involved in a mystery. The mystery seemed a little convenient, but I was happy to go along with it as that is how the romance was moved along.

The book was "movie" like in that quite a few of the teens were affluent and things came fairly easy for them. There is conflict and some hardship for a few, but it always feels like it's heading for a happy ending.

I really enjoyed this book. This was my first book by Nina LaCour and I loved her style and the tone overall. The only problem I had was I felt like it was just a touch slow in the middle, but it picked up and I really enjoyed it!

I loved the plot surrounding film-making and of course the mystery they encountered. I really enjoyed all of the characters in this book, especially the mysterious Ava. These characters were flawed, yet seemed so real to me and I love reading about characters like that.

I appreciated that the main character was open about her sexual orientation and instead of this being a coming out story, Nina LaCour just made it a part of who Emi was. I've read stories where the secondary characters were gay, but not the main character so this was a first for me. I loved that our main character wasn't struggling with how she felt, but accepted it. I'll admit I was frustrated with Emi in the beginning because of her poor relationship choices (just learn how to walk away girl! she doesn't love you!) but I grew to love her.

Honestly, while reading this book, it almost felt like I was becoming friends with Ava, Charlotte, Emi, and Jamal. You see them for who they are, their flaws included, but despite it all you grow to love them all the same. I finished this book feeling happy and it gave me closure (which we all know I love.)

I like that this book encourages you to not wait, but to act. You never know how much time you'll have.

Loved it. Gorgeous writing, lovely story, and characters motivated by a love for storytelling. The final pages are brilliantly insightful and brought the whole story home. Definitely recommended.

The cover of this book is so beautiful! And it sounds gorgeous!
And then I started reading.
I literally had to force myself to read nine pages because the writing is really. awful. Completely telling, no showing, and full of run on sentences. For example, she spends 11 lines (yes, actually) and one sentence (run-on much? i know, i'm one to talk) telling why she rolled down the windows (because she's passing doughnut shops and tattoo parlors and such and wants to 'take it in'. because she just couldn't do that with her windows rolled up?). do i care. no. and then there's the info dumping. but i am now going to shut up.
Obviously I'm in the minority. oh well. it probably gets better as the book goes on, but i couldn't hang on that long.

I'm a huge Nina LaCour fan and this book didn't disappoint. I loved reading a book in which the romance between the two girls just WAS. Natural. I also loved the movie details. It made me want to book a flight to LA. Beautiful book.

loved the concept, but pacing dragged a bit. some of the age gaps freaked me out a bit: “he said he’d been waiting for me to graduate all through high school”. wish same concept was better executed, i really wasn’t rooting for the mc’s to end up together
