If you are like the 69% of Americans that feel unhappy and disengaged at work, this book is worth picking up. Very inspiring, practical, and actionable with ways to increase satisfaction and happiness in your current work situation. I liked how throughout the authors took very commonly-felt notions and reframed them, showing the power of reframing. The “Good Enough for Now” sentiment really resonated. Nothing is a “hack” and things require time and effort, but it’s worth it. “Life’s too short to be disengaged at work.”

I listened to the audiobook of this & really enjoyed it. It contained some excellent reframing ideas to make the most of any situation & build a satisfying career. Recommended.

A real mixed bag: I thought the sections on design thinking were, as you might expect, the stronger part of the book. The book falls down, though, in having a real USA-centric attitude to work and I think some views of the authors are just outdated. For instance, they seemed unconcerned or even enthusiastic about the growing dominance of the gig economy. There was also little to no evidence basis for many of their recommendations (and indeed, underlying view). And to round off my criticism, the case studies they used to illustrate their points (especially from their own lives) felt a little trite.

So many good reminders and tips. I’ll come back to this any time I need to refresh my mindset about work. As someone who’s been a caretaker at home for almost a decade, now substitute teaching while I plan to go back to school, there were some holes in the book for my experience. The authors are trying to cover the entire workplace, though, so I still took away a lot of good pointers.

It had really good chapters but really dragged it from 12-15. Otherwise good points.
