I love Brene Brown's work -- this one is being added to my shelf! I love hearing her read her own audiobook because there's so much more personality to it. Great resources that I keep thinking back to.

Brown has really come of age as an author in her latest effort, and I can't help but think it's because her writing puts her advice into practice. She uses meaty anecdotes from her research and her own life to make an engaging case for vulnerability. She provides a useful toolkit for putting her findings into practice. I've been surprised to find how many times I have had the opportunity to put her advice into practice - even at work. How's this for a SFD?

12/27/19 This was the year of rereading everything Brene Brown, and it has been a wonderful if not totally an emotionally draining experience. Be brave, put yourself out there, be authentic, stay curious, sit in the discomfort, get ready to rumble. This is probably the hardest of the books I had to get through but it is also the most important call to action I think she has written. Dare to Lead and Daring Greatly are both inspiring, and call on you to change and grow in ways that are uncomfortable and challenging, but Rising Strong is the real work of getting back up when we are knocked down. If you could only reread one of her books, this would be the one to keep coming back to.

06/16/17 Often in movies the time a protagonist spends overcoming a setback or rising to a challenge is a series of images in a montage. Brene gives some wonderful examples of how we try to skip over this period in our own lives by quickly moving past it without really examining what is happening in our minds or hearts. Excellent examples, wonderful story telling, inspiring content.

Sometimes the right book makes its way to you just in time for when you need it. This is such a book. So much of what she said about judgement, people doing the best they can, setting boundaries, integrity etc. resounded with what is going on and the issues people are facing at the moment.
A borrowed book that I need to buy.

I found Rising Strong easy to read and relatable. I have many SFD going around my head but there are times I don’t rumble with them. Vulnerability is hard. But it can also have amazing outcomes. Even if we fail. We can rise up strong.
