Sooo repetitive.
Explain.
Tell me.
Explain.
TELL ME.
EXPLAIN.
And all the "Fuck me"s that were thrown around every other page? Annoying.
And this was soo.. cringe. Like I had second hand embarrassment half the time. And I know she has trauma and all but the whole "I see a basement and then run straight for the knives" scene, and the repetitively running away from all her problems? Like whyyy. She just wasn't a very likeable FMC and I didn't really feel a connection between her and the guys besides lust (and even that was barely there). So, overall, not a great book but it passes the time I guess.

Tethered to the World was a wonderful surprise of a story that knocked me off my feet.

Annora's story is incredible and somehow unique despite being a similar trope to so many other reverse harems at the moment. I really love the whole academy theme that's going on but so many tend to blend together with similar story lines. But this author managed to write a fantastic story that stood out to me.

This story is action packed and a little dark with the perfect blend of reverse harem romance that instantly grabbed my attention and didn't let go! The next book in Annora's story can't come soon enough!

Not for me.
Maybe I would have liked this if I was in high school. Or just way younger than I am now. The writing felt really juvenile and disjointed. The instalove was meh. Sometimes I can deal, but in this case it felt strange because they were all supposedly so tortured and guarded, yet they’re all weirdly in love within a week. I didn’t feel like I really knew any of the characters despite getting their POVs occasionally. I also didn’t have a good idea as to what any of them looked like. Except Mason has pink hair that moves and Camden is a lizard man or something in his other form.
Mostly what I got from this story is: Annora is super special and powerful and was tortured for forever in gruesome ways by her ultra evil uncle (who is evil maybe for power and greed?). The guys are super special and powerful and were all subjected to their own forms of torture by family or old pack members for *reasons*. They all are tortured super special outcasts together who are meant to be.

The most interesting part is Edgar, but then she decided to call him Eddie which is one of the most unsexy names possible. He goes from a ferret named Edgar to a man named Eddie? Shouldn’t that be the opposite? I digress. The concept of the afterworld was interesting, and I felt like it could have been really cool if the rest of the world building wasn’t so…nonexistent. Things aren’t ever explained well and I wasn’t gripped enough to see if they are explained in the next book.

i really enjoyed the fast pace of the story, there were moments where it did seem like it was jumping to something else very quickly that I was abit confused and had to re-read a part, but otherwise I cannot wait for the next part of the series.

Tethered to the World was a one-night wonder from Stacey Brutger and I fell in love with yet another one of her books. Tethered to the World is much darker than her other books so I'm providing a warnings list at the end of the review for those of you who would prefer to be forewarned. (warning are available on my site to avoid any possible spoilers and because I can't seem to get that tag to work for me)
Annora winds up at a paranormal university rooming with her new male teammates after she saves her boss' life one night, she makes her very first friend, gives a troll a hornjob (you read that right), and hits a mythical beastie in the Forbidden Zone all on her first day. Talk about eventful! As Annora and her new teammates learn to work together and trust one another, they work on solving the mystery of the disappearing college supernatural co-eds. And, oof! is that one a doozy.
I enjoy Ms Brutger's writing style, Tethered is fast-paced yet the story easily shifts from one scene to the next without leaving me behind wondering "wait, what about....?" I'm always left wanting just a little bit more of her characters every time. I love you, Xander! But I was dismayed that we had the 'infinite money' trope rear its well-disguised yet still ugly head, credit cards from the school or mega-rich packs and then we'd switch to Annora who's over there counting her pocket change and rationing food. There's a major difference in the power scale there and it makes me nauseous just thinking about it.
This may a relatively slow-burn romance series, but y'all. Reading this felt like that one time I was pulling my cast-iron skillet out of the oven and I forgot to grab a towel and grabbed it barehanded, then whacked my arm on the inside of the oven when I jerked back. Much with the burn. So, don't read this around folks if you blush easily. Those boys will destroy you and you'll love every second of it.
Overall, I give Tethered to the World 4 out of 5 stars and 4 flames of spiciness. If you're an openminded individual who likes some grit and bite to their colourful reads, I recommend Tethered to the World. I can't wait to read what happens next. No, really. This book ends on a cliffhanger. I need to know what happened!

This has been a Once Upon a Time, I Read a Book review and I hope y'all enjoyed it!

This was a good book that had the potential to be great. The plot and characters were interesting and I wanted to find out the mystery. But there were confusing plot holes or maybe just contradictions of information(?) that pulled me out of the story. However it's not enough to stop reading the next books, I just hope the writing is a bit smoother

I could not put this book down, and I actually took my time reading it so I wouldn't miss a single detail. I am beyond excited for the next one in this series!
