The book was beautifully written. The protagonist is relatable, especially in the way he confronts therapy and his development until he accepts that he did need help and that talking about his problems is necessary.
The writing style is easy to read and I had no issues at all following the story and characters.
Especially regarding mental health this book shows the complexity of this topic and how it can show in different people (Jeff, Sadie, Martha for example) and while it is mainly hopeful it has scenes where it shows that not every story ends a happy way.
However while I really enjoyed the book there were some passages that I had to fight myself through to keep going, not because it was graphic or uncomfortable but because I thought it was either a little repetitive or slow, also the
author could've been a little more clear about Jeff's SA by Rankin since its onky off-handedly mentioned as molestation

I would give it a 5/5 but i’m mad at how much it made me cry. I needed to take several breaks from this book…. however it was a fast read because i was so interested!!!

This was nothing like I had expected this book to be. The content was an extremely hard read and not in a good way. This book sexualized young teens and mentions rape as more of a sexual encounter rather than what it was, rape. The adults characters in the book brush it off and never take the incident seriously.
Apart from the sexual content the book didn’t go on to talk about mental health in very much depth as one would expect when picking up this book.
Overall just disappointing.
