Northanger Abbey is one of Austen's less talked of novels, but, in my opinion, another great one. It's gothic tones add some mystery, though short-lived, that is different from her other novels. A short read, it ranks up there with the best.

A fun and surprisingly quick read. I appreciated the humour and clever self awareness this book has. I wish the MC got more growth than she did and I'm definitely iffy on the age difference between the MC and romantic interest.

A challenging book I read for Literature class. Reading this book in the context of a course felt like a breath of fresh air because of Northanger Abbey's humor and irony, making it much more enjoyable. My teacher teaching us to analyze this book through its diegetic levels was also profoundly enlightening because I could relate the Gothic illusion that Catherine mistook for reality with how modern media is distorting our view of the world.

"She had three sons before Catherine was born; and instead of dying in bringing the latter into the world, as anybody might expect, she still lived on"

Poor Catherine, how can one person surround herself with such selfishness and not even realize it.

However her character took a slight turn for the better/stronger after she said
"If I could not be persuaded into doing what I thought wrong, I never will be tricked into it."
As most books you will love some characters and dislike others, and the Thorps are so easy to dislike.

I loved this book,
I love Jane Austen,

Loved Part 1. Part 2 was good too. I understand it functions like a parody of a Gothic novel but I would sometimes gloss over all the descriptions and I only finished it because I liked the main character.
