Ho-hum. Another book about Cleopatra ...
But this YA adult book really was good. It's a magical book with more than a touch of the supernatural.

I've always wanted to read something from the Cleopatra era, but I've always been a little hesitant because I'm completely new to that "world." This one was a pretty good introduction (along with Wikipedia) because it wasn't in the drama of Cleopatra's life itself, but it did refer to a few key events as it went into her daughter's post-Cleopatra life.

The whole series 5 star. I loved every page. This is one of my favorite time periods in history. Not only is the name Cleopatra eye catching, the mystery revolving around her children is even more intriguing.
I wish the series didn't end I so wanted more!

Wow, well I liked that a lot!! This was gripping from the first page. I don’t know much about this time period, but I’m completely fascinated now! I’m so glad that this is part of a series so I can see how this all turns out.
The entire time I was on the edge, who can I trust, who’s the real monster, was there any truth to what they are saying about Cleopatra and Marc Antony? When you peak my curiosity like that, you’ve written a solid book!
I think anyone that’s interested in Rome or Egypt will enjoy this. There was very little romance, it was more of a story about children finding their voices and place in a world after their parents died.

As someone with an MA in Classics, I ADORED this book! The attention to historical detail is admirable -- and I think this gives Dray some legitimacy when age does decide to go heavier on some of the "fiction" elements of historical fiction. I'll definitely be finishing the series and rereading this one.

I love Kate Quinn and she recommended this book, so I thought I’d give it a try. I liked the historical aspects but the magic stuff had me scratching my head
