While I liked getting to learn more about the characters’ pasts, I’m disappointed that we didn’t get to see anything from the present timeline. :(

I thought I would like it more because the last book was left on a cliffhanger but it was just meh. Also the spicy scenes were really repetitive

This book was so addicting but this relationship is so toxic. They both just need to sit down and talk it all out but i think they are just so broken that they just hide their true feelings hoping the other one will just figure it out. Rina Kent never fails to get me addicted to her books. On to the last of the series.

This book is a ride I was not expecting after the first book. I was satisfied with first, but not blown away. Interested enough to move to part two. This is exactly what you are expecting from a dark mafia romance with an S&M undertone. The characters have depth with mental illness(es) - some verbalized and others are obvious from the behaviors. They are both morally gray (closer to black) with different responses to that reality. I spent the entirety of this book frustrated with the decisions of these characters, hoping they would separate and rooting for them to succeed, often simultaneously.

The actual mystery of a plot is good. I was not expecting all of the excitement out of this series. It’s a dark mafia romantic thriller.

Please consider checking trigger warnings not optional. I will list them at the end. Spicy level - 3 of 5. There are, um, interesting kinky scenes.
