tj klune went after my heart as always, huh.
no but seriously, i wasn’t really interested in robbie/kelly before but the dynamic between the characters --be it family or romantic-- is so wholesome and angsty at the same time that no matter what i always end up being invested.
my only complain with the green creek series is the same as with the previous books: the villain/final battle resolution. in heartsong things happened and there was no explanation as to why (plus a lot of contradictions) but i’m going to hold my judgement until the final book and yes, i’m going to cry when this is over

At this point, it’s just too repetitive for me. Will Ox ever say anything other than, “my daddy told me I was shit”? Will Joe ever be given back the personality we spent an entire book developing? Will they ever decide to work as a pack instead of dramatically leaving at the most inopportune moments, and/or realize they put everyone else in danger each time they pursue someone alone for their own selfish relationship issues? Is there a reason we need to hammer down these weird asexuality stereotypes so much? Is it for the literal two straight pack members? No, and no one cares that you’re a cop, Kelly. YA BORING! *mentally insert Brooklyn nine-nine gif here*
I think this book pissed me off so much because I’m now just reading the same story again and again - and that’s really disappointing. You can have a different name, and a “different” backstory (let’s be honest, that’s repetitive too), but if you’re just gonna say the same shit over and over, what are we doing? Brother, pack, brother, brother, friend… and I said yes. and he said hey. and I said hello… and it was all blue, so blue, with small shades of green, but mostly blue and it smelled like blue, and my god how I missed the smell of green because his smile lit up the entire world when he was green etc., etc. You get the point, and the point is I’m bored. I’M BORED CUS’ YA BORING!!!!!
ps- Robbie acted like a lil’ bitch boy for about 85% of this book and that sucked too.

Holy shit.
And I mean that cause I said that out loud several times while reading this book.
I think that aside from Wolfsong (which will always be my favorite), this is my next favorite book in the Green Creek series. Ravensong was good but Gordo and Mark were just a tad bit too angsty for my taste. This one however not only advanced the story of the Bennett pack and their ongoing conflict with Robert Livingstone, but also delved more into the mind and history of Robbie who fast became a favorite character of mine even though he'd been a minor one until now. This book was jam packed with punches to the feels and action. I truly felt invested in all the events and at times was at the edge of my seat! Also, the plot of this one was interestingly laid out. At first I thought I was reading about the past and Robbie's time before joining the Bennett pack but then glimpses started happening of his time with them and I was so confused. But then everything started clearing up and that was the first of my "Oh SHIT" moments. Then I was totally invested. All in. No holds barred.

Ooooh! The plot twists in this book! The power hungry man who only wants what is his, but tramples over whom ever he pleases to get it, makes the point that even love stories about werewolves are political.
