Absolutely worth the read! The entire story of A New Hope retold from the POV of 40 different background or side characters. As a collection of short stories from 40 different authors, not all of them can be winners, but the great ones outnumber the merely "meh" ones. Here's hoping we get From A Certain Point of View II in a few years for the 40th anniversary of The Empire Strikes Back!

This is a collection of Short Stories from 40 authors to celebrate 40 years of Star Wars. The short stories are a retelling of A New Hope from different perspectives. Virtually everyone knows the story and has seen the film, so to celebrate the milestone, these stories sound like a great idea.

The book starts off with the bridge between Rogue One and A New Hope. A great short story and a great start to the Anthology.

Like most anthologies, there will be stories that work, and others that fall short of the mark. While there were a couple of 5 star stories, there were also a couple of 1 stars as well. The majority of the stories were 3/4 stars, and thus the 4 star rating.

There are some issues with continuity in the stories. These are obvious in the Cantina scenes as well as the Trench Run stories (especially those left on the planet - one story states there were too many pilots for the birds, the following story stating otherwise). That minor gripe aside, this was a very enjoyable read.

It’s really fun! Get different perspectives on scenes and events from the first movie that started this Galaxy Far Far Away!

It’s a fun book to pick up and take a little time to read one story or two without getting into a full book.

I don't know man, it's just like, what's even the point, you know? Of any of it...

Some super good stories! Most of which I found hella depressing. Those three stars are a little generous re. my enjoyment of the book, but any lower would have been an insult as to its quality, which is definitely not my intention.
Things I did not ask for:

Trying to make me feel even worse about the stormtroopers than I already do
Trying to make me feel better about the Red One (not gonna work, that is a SUPER SAD STORY YO)
Trying to make me laugh at the stormtroopers' antics when mostly I just want to cry the whole time
Tarkin
Sad aliens
Beru's final moments
Obi's final moments
Alderaan's final moments
Greedo (DON'T CARE)
Hearing the pilots die four times over

(Nnedi Okorafor is probably queen of all the star wars tho)
