I realized listening to this book that I don’t really enjoy fem guys or twinks. This story was nice though!

I didn't enjoy this one as much as the first. I had trouble picturing these two while reading, which made them seem two dimensional to me. Also, both MCs were so wishy-washy in their feelings and kept pushing the other away, so I wishy-washy and like I didn't really care if they got together or not. The chemistry that was apparent in book 1 wasn't there in this one, and both MCs annoyed me, although Rod annoyed me more with his constant flippant remarks.

Spicy 🥵
Bisexual rep
Friends to lovers

Super seggs positive

Rod uses the F-slur frequently when he thinks and talks about his unsupportive and emotionally abusive father.

Landon is foolish for the first half of the book with his needless avoidance of an actual relationship with Rod. But when the love hits it HITS.

The Mothers in this series are the real villains book 1 and book 2 have some of the WORST mothers.

Lovable sex you shop owner Rod is living his best life, as long as you don’t count the childhood trauma preventing him from forming meaningful relationships. Then a guy comes in and buys lube every week and it leads to a whole lot more. Friends to fuck buddies to lovers. So much family drama!

I also very much hate when characters forgive their awful family members just because they’re dying.

I really loved the last 30% of this book. It had so much raw emotion and helped put the struggles both Rod and Landon faced into perspective.

There was a bit too much build up but it did set the mood for how much both men were trying to not deal with concerning their childhoods.

They both were coping with abandonment and abuse and it left them both feeling as if they not only didn’t deserve love but they didn’t need it either.

I loved their connection and how much they fought their attraction, ultimately not being able to resist. I do wish Rod wouldn’t have been so pushy but it made sense once we really understood how little he valued his ability to truly bond with another person.

I enjoyed this one but the first one is still my favorite one of the series. I loved seeing the guys again. Glad Rod got his HEA with Landon.
