Well, that was nothing like the movie!
I have watched every single movie in the Jurassic Park/World series and have mostly liked them all, though none so much as the first one.
Anyway, Jurassic Park (the movie) came out in theaters when I was 10 years old, so I definitely hadn’t read the book. As I got older, it was one of those things that I never got around too. Oh, but I should have!
Immediately, right from the start, the book was vastly different and it just kept going from there, right to the end. Holy crap! The ending was so different, but much better.
I’ll always love the movie, some of the magic from my childhood still exists when I watch it, but the book is now definitely a favorite, too!

This was my first exposure to any Jurassic Park media, and, overall, it did not disappoint! I was captivated right from the start and wanted to learn more about what was going on both on the main land and on Isla Nublar. I wasn’t expecting there to be dinosaurs on main land Costa Rica, so that was an interesting surprise.
The technical jargon and philosophical discussions about the park/project itself didn’t turn me off nearly as much as I thought it would.
What did make me roll my eyes was the younger child’s, Lexie’s, words and actions. I understand that she’s 7 or 8 years old, but she complained about being treated like a child in one breath just to complain about not being helped in the next. She was insufferable throughout, but I can give her some breathing room as she is just a child.
Overall, the book was very entertaining and makes me want to look into the Lost World.

This is, and remains, one of my all-time favourite books. A dinosaur-filled cautionary tale worth suspending your disbelief for.
Graphic: Violence and Death
Moderate: Injury/Injury detail

Perfect. I have no words to describe how much I love this book. It’s haunted me for years, given me a lifelong suspicion of birds (little would-be velociraptors…) and yet is also a comfort read. I just love reading it.
