I would reread this with a notebook and worksheets to better work with the information. I’m going to reread with my family to work some of the ideas into my daily.

Really easy to digest, but lots to process. Going to be making a couple of photocopies of the first couple chapters for reference. And, I wrote about a 20 page philosophic manifesto about my workview and lifeview which may add some clarity to my underlying existential crisis (or - just scare off people around me with my patented intensity).

I did find some of this helpful in organizing and sorting out my general ennui right now, though last half really focused on career as part of "happiness", which I was a bit disappointed by. I'm looking for clarity in a holistic sense, not just in how my work-life can support happiness (to be fair, this is a major component of my malaise but isn't what I have identified on my dashboard as being the most critical area of improvement).

10+ years ago I drafted my first life plan, but that was under a fiscal framework. Now as I revisit it, I want to take a philosophical approach. I do think that this book's exercises will help in sifting through those larger questions, but it's not explicitly stated in the text here.

It’s the type of book you do in spurts over time I think

Great job hunting advice. That being said, not totally relevant to where I’m at

I think the idea of “life design” is a very important one. I took a class on this topic during grad school, and it actually caused me to change my career focus. This book was helpful. I didn’t do any of the exercises (out of sheer laziness), but I did take away some helpful tips on how to improve my own life.

This book overall is a very helpful way of looking at one's life with curiosity and optimism, especially if you complete all the book's exercises.

The "Good Time Journal" was a very useful exercise to reflect back on what really energized and engaged me during the day. I found that I was apt to try and fit myself into the mold of what I aspired or hoped I would want, rather than what I really loved to do.

Some exercises like the Life View and Work View require some more time to settle out. I still don't feel that my perspectives are strongly held at this point but am okay with that.

A few portions of the book around building a council of people to help you through the process were simply not for me. I genuinely could not imagine assembling a group of people simply to talk about my life! Perhaps if we were on the path together that would be far more ideal.

Job hunters will love it. Was reading for a research project but ended up finding it very useful as a freelancer and curious Catarina. The old way is out. This new way really resonated with me.
