Rupi's poems are so beautiful and creative! While all of them don't relate to me personally, they were a pleasure to read and learn from. I especially enjoyed the ones about being a woman, self acceptance, and honouring our past (whether it be parents or women who came before us).

No soy de poesía, pero la verdad es que me gustó, no diré que conecte con todos pero si con algunos, los suficientes.

ok, I have been
meaning
to
write a
rant
about this
book for a few days
now.

my main issue with poetry collections I read is that there seems to be no cohesive overarching theme or idea. yes, poetry can revolve around many ideas such as grief, trauma, family, history etc. but there needs to be a general string that pulls it all together. I really enjoyed the first part of this collection and what it delved into and then there was a random shamble of poems loosely shoved here and there to make up some pages. now, if the poetry had been good I would not have minded but it was imo trashier than Elizabeth Hurleys 1999 metgala outfit. one of the poems was legitimately
I am made of water
of course I am emotional
for starters the overused imagery linking water to exclusively sadness is well.... overused and secondly just bad
now, I can absolutely see the value in this collection for certain readers but I feel like there are so many other texts that capture issues related to gender, relationships, trauma etc so much better. overall, I did not enjoy this

Um livro de poesia que fala de sentimentos da vida, de crescer, de se respeitar, de compartilhar e de valorizar a si mesmo.
As poesias da Rupi são profundas, delicadas e belas. Como a vida.
