2.5, I guess?

I don't know.. I started reading this 'cause I was looking for some yummy guilty pleasure, but, it's just... This was SO SEXIST! I just couldn't with all the slut-shaming and body-shaming. Not to mention the hypocrisy - Rowan's BFF sleeps around and she's considered a smart, beautiful, confident woman who knows what she wants and is not afraid to go and get it (I agree). Any other girl who dares to seep with any of the guys is described as a whorish airhead with dicks for brains and no self-respect (what). And when Rowan and Dee wear provocative clothes they're sexy and jaw-dropping. The rest of the female population to wear the same short skirts/plunging necklines? Sluts with no sense of decent fashion who only want to screw the first guy she sees.

At first, I was able to ignore this cause I was having fun with the rest - but seriously, enough is enough. My guilty pleasure was absolutely ruined by the sexism. It made me feel way too guilty to be reading this to actually feel any pleasure - Balance was fucked up.

Ew.

Whew. I love the rockstar love story and this one gave me vibes of other band romances I've read and enjoyed in the past.

"When college freshman Rowan Michaels meets gorgeous, up-and-coming rock star Adam Everest, she knows a player like him is the last thing she needs after her ex-boyfriend shattered her heart. But she can't stop thinking about the kiss they shared on his tour bus.

On the first day of school, Rowan is stunned when Adam saunters into her French class. He's soon failing miserably, and, on a whim, she offers to tutor him. But Adam doesn't recognize her as a makeup-free, glasses-clad college student—a far cry from the beautiful, mysterious "Peach" he met at his concert.

During a wild weekend on tour with the band, Rowan can't help falling for the sweet guy buried beneath Adam's rocker persona. Yet she knows she could never compete with the girls constantly throwing themselves at his feet. She'd just end up hurt … again.

Peach is all Adam thinks about, though, and when Rowan realizes this, she has a decision to make: stay just friends to protect her fragile heart … or reveal the truth about the night they met and admit she's fallen completely, hopelessly in love with him."-Goodreads

2.5 stars...

I don't know what happened... I kind of liked the beginning then I loved Adam and Rowan's interaction but...then it fell.....It just sometimes didn't make sense...what was the whole "I've loved you for a while" thing when he was fully making out with how many girls earlier...????...
And I felt like Adam had no character whatsoever besides being a rockstar... that's it...Rowan had some sort of personality but wasn't enough to salvage it!

I did like the epilogue in the ending Adam's perspective and I wish we had his point of view from the beginning but nope..I honestly felt it was have pushed it up a star to understand what he felt and was as a person.

I should preface this by saying that this book wasn't the best written story line by far, but it was just what I was looking for, and thus really enjoyed reading it.

From reading reviews before reading, I knew to expect the insta-love when it came. And yes it was a bit annoying. I don't mind an unfounded connection in some stories, but in this one, the hero, Adam, seemed a bit too hasty and obsessive in his feelings for this girl he knows absolutely nothing about. They technically first see each other when Rowan and her friend are waiting in line at a club to get into Adam's band's concert. He strolls right up to the doors and Rowan tells him off a little for trying to cut in line. When he just smirks and slips inside, she's mortified when her friend tells her of her mistake. Then after Rowan has been inside for a while, she spots her boyfriend, who is supposed to be on a business trip, getting cozy with another girl. Considering how many business trips he's "taken" lately, she knows he's got an affair going on. She rushes outside and ends up crying on a stoop. Enter Adam. He joins her and comforts her a bit before taking her back to his bus to distract her. Only, they just end up having some drinks and making out after she declines his sexual advances. When it comes time for his show, he asks her to meet him back on his bus afterwards, but she and her friend leave and move all of her things from her and her boyfriend's apartment. The big surprise comes when on the first day of classes, Rowan is sitting in her French class when Adam walks in with a harem of groupies. She avoids him for about a month until she surprises herself by saving him from getting kicked out of the class by tutoring him. It becomes obvious that he doesn't recognize her with out the sluttier clothes and make-up. Rowan just goes with it and runs away for the weekend with him on a tour to help him study. However, Adam assumes it was just a ploy to sleep with him, and Rowan is shocked and a tad offended when he starts making out with her. When they work through that, they agree to just be friends, knowing Adam would happily add benefits at any time. This allows Rowan to actually get to know Rowan and realize that their strong sexual chemistry isn't their only attractions. They mesh really well and Rowan sees a soft side to Adam. She also learns that he hasn't actually forgotten about their time making out way back when, he just hasn't connected that she's the Peach he remembers her as. She struggles with falling for Adam amidst all the trust issues she's gained since her last relationship. And she knows if she isn't easy to trust a guy, and rock star with groupies aplenty, probably isn't going to be ideal.

There is definitely a strong connection between the characters when they first meet (both times, technically), and I can buy that that connection drove them to want to hang out more. However, it seems a bit too much how Adam fell for Peach seemingly so strongly. His friend described it to be almost a puppy-love type of effect, with Adam calling out her name at later shows and having her name put on the backstage guest list every time. I would've bought it more if it were presented as Adam really wanting to hook up with Peach, but it came across to me as him wanting more, without wanting to put a label on it.

Rowan's feelings felt more realistically paced. However, She had some really immature habits that made me roll my eyes at times. It was probably realistic for her age and the fact that she went through a break-up at the start of the book. But it got annoying when she'd waver about going back to her boyfriend for really no reason she could admit to.
SpoilerThere's also a point where she's been living in her friend's dorm room too long and she's got to leave, lest her friend gets booted from the dorms. She figures her only option is to go back to her boyfriend's and what used to be her apartment. She acts like she has rights to just go back, which seemed weird and a bit crazy. I thought she has moved out. Wouldn't that mean she's no longer paying rent? Yet she still has keys? why would she still be paying and holding keys if she's not living there. But fine, even if all of that is legitimate somehow, it still seems strange that she never was referred to as looking for other apartments. She has one other close friend besides the one she moved in with, but it was stated that his roommate creeped Rowan out. Okay, I can understand not moving in there. But she's now made friends with all the musicians that live in the same town and she never once asks them if they know any body looking for a roommate. She seemed like such a fool.
She also had a habit of never really thinking decisions through. Which again, is realistic given all her other characteristics. There were at least three times I can remember that she even acknowledged how she probably should've thought something through better. Again, all this is realistic, but nonetheless peevish to me. I tend to like smarter heroines. Or at least more independent ones.

All those complaints being said, I really did enjoy this writing. It was just what I was looking for and the story pulled me in and I had trouble putting it down. I loved the supporting characters and all the humorous dialogue. I really look forward to the next book.

"This book is why every girl has a rock star fantasy"
Why yes, yes it flipping is!

I loved this book! I loved the story line and the writing style and the characters and holy lord i wish i was Rowan!

Any books that can make my body physically react to it, i consider the author to have some serious talent. And this isn't because I'm a heartless wench. No. This is because writing in general is very difficult, but writing and being able to successfully convey emotions, and get an emotional reaction out of the reader is amazing.
And the best part about this amazing writing, is that i will be so caught up in a book, in a particularly stressful or beautiful scene, my brows furrow and my breathing is on halt, and my eyes are welling with unshed tears and my chest is constricting and then sometimes i snap out of the trance and go "Holy shit this is amazing and crazy and i love it so much," and i just smile to myself because this is what a good book is.

This happened to me multiple times throughout this book.
It's one thing to wish i was a character in the book, so i can live through the same events, but as no one has figured out a way to do that just yet, all i have to look forward to is exceptional writing that can make me feel as though i am the character and i am living through it with them. The heart break and uplifting moments. And that is what i love most about reading, and this book added to the love.

I am a sucker for rock star stories and am always on the lookout for new book boyfriends. And oh yes, i have found my newest book boyfriend ladies and gentlemen! Adam Everest. Please and thank you. He is a perfect example of my favourite male lead. Cocky, funny, sweet, talented, and hot as hell! I love a male lead who is a player and then meets someone who turns him inside out and upside down and he is all about them. But i love being able to see them unravel from the expected stereotype and be loving and caring and sweet and as an invisible third party in the book we get to see that happen. And yes it happens a lot, but for me it doesn't get old, because i am holding out hope that if there are amazing men in books, that there must be some decent guys out there who have the same attributes.

I also love that Rowan was a beautiful character inside and out. I love the girls who are beautiful but don't take advantage of it, and sometimes don't even realise. She was also just a really likeable character and i love the relationships she created with Adam and his band.

I also thought this book had a very strong position on friendship, and that was really nice. Rowan has her best friend who would go to the ends of the earth for her, and Adam's band are all really close, and they accept Rowan from the get go, and they have really easy relationships, which is super heartwarming.

We need more books like these and more people like the ones in these books! Come on humans! Get it together!

I really enjoyed this book! I love a good rockstar romance! Adam and his band mates are such man-whores but I loved them anyways. Rowan was pretty awesome, a bit nerdy but funny and sweet. I really loved the chemistry between Adam and "Peach" and I can't wait for the next book in this series.
