So I had listened to some of this before I got on a plane but when I say this helped me fly I mean it. It was a really nice read and I enjoyed every part of listening to the narrator.

This focuses a lot on the team working together to move officials during a blackout. It sounds quite simple but parts had me geniunely giggling and gasping.

The romance scenes were steaaaamy. Loved those.

Here we go again…. Freaking Raven ignoring her heart and everything she feels because she doesn’t get her way. Glad we don’t have to hear the memory excuse any more… although I’m sure there will be more reasons why she shouldn’t be with Christian. Geez, she doesn’t deserve him! She does whatever she wants with no regard for his feelings and then gets mad at him over trying to help and protect her. She’s turning into a total b&tch that I don’t care much for.
This series is 10 books long so I guess DD feels like situations should take several books to get resolved. But I’m about sick of Raven and this back and forth and the way she doesn’t trust Christian even after all he’s done to earn it. She’s mad about one thing or another. Christian saves her dads life and she throws a fit. Ugh…. I can’t stand her for much longer!

I had to skim and skip a lot of this book. I think it’s time I take a break from the series as I’ve been reading them one after another to this point and I’m getting bored. Same thing new book. And if Houdini becomes some All Knowing idol of Raven’s I’m gonna lose my sh@t. This is a man who sells women! Come on…. Quit making him some hero.
And the way Shepherds son’s situation went down really bugged me. Thank goodness Gem had a heart and brought them to their senses.

Good thing I’m reading these when all the books are out, because these cliffhanger endings would PISS ME OFF if I couldn’t go right to the next book.

Honestly? I’m getting bored with this off again and on again business. Compared to the danger they face in these books, the small betrayals in their relationship seem meaningless. It’s getting old.

One of my favorite series and this one kind of went off the rails. I'm a bit weirded out by the story, hoping the author will come through and answer some questions in the next.

Holy freaking cow! Just when I think Dannika can't tug at our hearts or make us laugh out loud more... she does it again! The fifth installment in the Crossbreed series, BLACKOUT does not disappoint!

BLACKOUT is filled with action, mystery, laughs, sexiness and moments that will have you doing the "ugly cry". Then when you're done.... you just want to know 1.) when the next title releases and 2.) how you're supposed to listen/read another book now? Every single time I finish one of Dannika's books, I need time ... to recoup!

Oh and Nicole!! Again, a stellar performance. Providing each of the characters with their own unique voices/tones! When a book is narrated by Nicole, its like getting a full cast!!

If you haven't listened/read the series, its a must! Heck, all of Dannika's books are must have!

Are they all retarded?? I like the characters and the method of story telling but the stupidity is galling.

No one is talking to eachother. Apparently matching tattoos isn’t enough for them to even talk to one another.

Shepherd knows Patrick is a bad man who deals in slaves, murder and then black market but tells no one and let’s the group divulge important information and broker deals with the man.

Niko knows about Patrick having Sheps child AND that Cryus is working with Patrick but doesn’t tell anyone not to trust him. Niko also knew Gem was being drugged but didn’t say anything until post-Hooper

This is legit the worst detective/protection agency ever. I’m not sure I can continue. When all the drama is contrived of miscommunication it’s more frustrating than entertaining

And jfc. Why bother with phones if you never have them with you?

And for fucks sake. I’m so over Christian and Ravens relationship drama. The book is at its best when they’re working as a team and the fact that they keep turning their backs on eachother makes the book less and less appealing every time

I received this book for free from Tantor Audio in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.I thought I would give myself a few days to calm down before I wrote this review. I'm still a little sore about the ending but I thought I could at least talk about the rest of the story.

Originally the Keystone crew is working a case involving deaths of some higher authority members, but when the city is suddenly claimed by a blackout, the job turns into one of protecting those remaining higher authority. The problem is protecting them from the craziness going on due to the blackout, as well as the murderer who seems to have it out for some members.

Blackout also has us dealing with Shepherd's indecisions as well as the relationship dilemma with Raven and Christian. You really get intense feelings for Shepherd as he deals with his conflicts. He has very few roads open to him and each one has painful consequences. Gem also has a tragedy she must deal with. It feels like everyone in Keystone has some personal demons they must defeat.

I love Raven and her independence. She knows she must follow Keystone's rules, but she also has a mind of her own. Raven will act when she needs to when she feels she is right. Granted, not all of her theories are correct, nor her actions, but her heart is in the right place. She is fighting for what she feels is right and that is respectable. I absolutely loved her interactions with Christian. Their banter back and forth brought a lot of laughs. You would believe that they hold nothing back. The big snag in this relationship is that damn creator of hers. Houdini makes me want to scream with his smart ass attitude. He acts like he controls everything going on around him, especially how Raven's life goes. He frustrates me to no end! Sure enough, he sneaks himself in there to cause just enough chaos to stick his nose in Raven and Christian's relationship.

The action and adventure in Blackout was so much fun. It's a race against time and following Raven as she follows leads and fights when she needs to gets the heart pumping. She is just an awesome all around character. The relationships within Keystone also are cause for some laughs. They claim to not be the closest of people, but their actions and banter say otherwise. They are great together and just cause a lot of laughs. I love Wyatt and his reactions to dead bodies!

So needless to say, all around, I thought Blackout was an amazing installment to the Crossbreed series. Until we get to the end. I hate cliffhangers, and I feel like this what we are left with here. Despite my outrage at the actions of Raven and Christian, the little wrinkle that pops up at the end had me scratching my head and wondering how much worse things are going to get. I sure hope the next book is on it's way out because I'm going to go insane until I see some things settled here. I'm still peeved at how this ended and I finished a couple of days ago. This is going to stick with me for sure. My emotions are riding high!

I can't say enough how much the audio impresses me. I can't imagine reading this series without Nicole Poole narrating. Poole brings out the personalities in all the characters that just has this series alive for me. I definitely recommend the audio for anyone wanting to start this series. However, I do want to own the paperbacks just because I love the covers. One of these days I'll catch a good sale or get a great gift card and will snatch them up!This review was originally posted on Rantings of a Reading Addict
