Wow.
Amazingly, I only have four points to make about this book.
1. Did it really just make the movie version make more sense by giving extra detail that the movie should have gave?
2. No celeb narrator? Really? In theory that should have been easy to do. When you give this a listen, you'll understand why no star would want to give this book the time of day.
3. It amuses me how the author went about censoring the film for the kids. Ie: Remember Quill's one night stand he had left on his ship while getting the orb? Don't worry, he was super polite this time and dropped her back to her space home and gave her a space kiss on the cheek. Yeah, she's not there.
4. Let's just forget about the last forty or so minutes of the movie shall we for this book adaption. Because that is what they did.

Bad book for adults to read for fun. Might be okay for kids if they don't care about details too much (aka KID: 'why does the book stop here mommy? Where's the rest of it?' MOMMY: 'there are a lot of reasons, little one. where would you like me to begin?')

What I don't get about these "based on the movie" junior novels is that they always leave out the ending. They should release them well after the DVD of the movie hits stores or else it just leaves you hanging. At least this one gives the reader a little epilogue that might satisfy their curiosity of what happens to the characters but it doesn't explain the conclusion with Ronan and the infinity stone he took from the Guardians. Yes, we all know what happens but say the reader never saw the movie, they're going to be disappointed in the so-called ending with a promise of another story that may or may not ever get published. So as much as I love the jokes and the behind the dialogue feelings they have, it gets 2 1/2 stars for leaving the reader with a half-assed story.
