Sometimes I loved this book and the characters and their personalities, and then other times not as much. But I was drawn in and interested to see how things would end! The sci-fi aspect and contemporary look at fame and social media were interesting to me. (Read for Central Book Club)

I found this book exceedingly disappointing! I am a lover of all things sci-fi.... but this is what I call near sci-fi which is when the story takes place in a near part of time... meaning it could happen right now and it wouldn’t be far off from reality. Unfortunately I hate this trope unless it is roped in with bad ass evil aliens or diseases that take the drama up 10 notches. I thought this book was vapid and boring. I also hated all but a couple of characters.

EXCELLENT! A really smart, subtle, fun YA take on technology and fame. Loved the characters and the story. Can’t wait for the next book.

April is annoying. Really hard to get past that.

I wasn't quite sure what I was going to get with this book but I certainly wasn't disappointed. The plot and commentary on social media was balanced really well and I was completely engrossed when I got to the middle chapters. The only thing that stops it being 5 stars for me is I wasn't quite sure how I feel about the ending. I'm not against the concept of setting up for a sequel but it also felt like April hadn't grown as much I as perhaps wanted to see (Then again, maybe that was the point?) I still really enjoyed this book and definitely want to read the sequel!

I just finished this book and by that I mean just now and also Finished. I read the acknowledgments. It was That Good. Hank if you’re perusing this site which „knowing“ you wouldn’t surprise me: I love you the book is amazing. Definitely do recommend and also actually probably will pop into my ex girlfriends letterbox with a sticky note. I finished this in a day, which I haven’t managed to do that in years (thanks brain) and I already can’t wait for the sequel. I bought this book yesterday. Maybe I’m biased bc I already think Hank is pretty darn awesome or bc I relate to a lot of different things in this book, the (sorta) lucid dreaming, April’s relationship habits, the enormous bi energy radiating off it all (especially the music) the conspiracy vibes and the community of nutters (although they’re not cause they’re right I guess?) and just about a million other little things in the narrative that resonate with me.. maybe I also just have a thing for „mysterious space robots of unknown substance with questionable intentions“.. or maybe it’s just a good effin book

i throughly enjoyed this book. have you ever read a book where you’re constantly just in awe of how the author thought up aspects of it? that was me with this book. there were so many intricacies that i just could not understand how hank green thought of them. i really liked the social commentary in here, it made me think. i liked the writing style. it’s definitely not everyone’s thing, but i like the laid back conversational writing. and that ending... damn, i’m glad i read this when the sequel is already out.
