I'm trying to get my TBR down, but I think I just added like... 9 more books because I'll probably want to continue this series.

Pleasure to meet you, Murderbot. We're going to be spending a lot of time together, I can tell. You are way too relatable. I too don't know how to human and would rather be left alone to watch my shows and read my books.

I don't think I should really relate to a character called Murderbot as much as I do. I don't normally enjoy first person narratives but I really like this.
I will probably read more of these books.

Snarky murderbot is the best type of bots.

Wow!

The science fiction premise is all about creating a unique narrator and narrative voice: a part-machine/part-human construct who can (interpretation alert) stand in for lots of kinds of damaged humans. Like all the people who will love this book, maybe, or at least like our self-image, the narrator is a complicated mix of super-competence, don't-give-a-shit, social phobia and serious emotional problems.

Also, this is an exciting science fiction action-adventure story with fun characters.

It's a reminder that all the best books have distinctive voices.

I'll read this whole series and perhaps everything else by the author.

5 stars of pure fun.

It's ironic that I would read this just after Yasushi Inoue's Paroi de glace which I rated 5 stars for literary merit "and not, per se, for the enjoyment" since this book is the exact opposite.

There aren't really themes or messages here, the characters are mostly underdeveloped, the story is straightforward and nothing too complex... but this book packs a punch of sheer entertainment. The main character is just lovable, the humour is spot on, the story fast paced and engaging...

A great little story that shines with its wit and perfectly dosed humour. Delightful!
