"Mile High" is a dual points of view romance that follows Zanders and Stevie. Zanders is an accomplished hockey player that has the reputation of being a playboy. Stevie is a flight attendant who just took a new job as one of the flight attendants for Zanders' hockey team. Stevie has vowed to never date a professional athlete after her traumatic breakup with her ex. Zanders never thought he could meet someone that means more to him than hockey. Is this just a one-night stand, or can Zanders and Stevie commit to each other for the long haul.
I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed this book. Both main characters were mature and thoughtful, while trying to cope with their own issues. Stevie was a well-rounded character that was equal parts empowering badass and soft. She is a little guarded when she meets someone new because of some toxic relationships in the past, but she still tries to have an open and understanding heart. Zanders had a lot of family trauma that he had to work through, and he owned it.
I felt like Zanders' and Stevie's relationship felt authentic and believable. Although they had a bit of a hate relationship to start with, they took things at their own pace and ended up being really great for one another. Neither of them wanted the other to be anyone other than who they were. Each was authentic and each brought powerful characteristics to the relationship.
I really enjoyed Stevie's story arch in particular. She worked to set up boundaries with those who have treated her poorly, but she never judged anyone else for having a relationship with the person who hurt Stevie.
I do not know who the next book follows, but I am definitely keen to pick it up!

The story is marketed as a hockey book, but I would say hockey serves as backdrop. There isn't a lot of hockey on page and would say the smex is not to bad.
I was especially excited to read this story since Stevie is plus size Heroine.
But. It was all just -- okay. The two aren't especially exciting couple to watch fall in love. The third act breakup was unnecessary. They didn't need to breakup, to find their HEA.
The themes of found family, taking a chance on love and forgiveness were all noble. Overall, it was too long and lots of the side story lines could of happened off page.
