The best part was the introduction and the title.

The stories that are good in this collection are really good. There are also some other stories that were ok. None of them were bad though. Good read all in all.

I found it kind of hard to tell based on the cover and blurbs that this was a kids' book; it's an easy read. A few of the stories are OK. Grimble, Sunbird and Monster, for instance. Some of them are really terrible. Particularly Nick Hornby's story, Small Country, is really not great. A shame, given it sets the tone for the whole book. It's like Hornby started writing a short story, got bored and ended it before adding in half of what should be in it. Why bother making a point of how bad the small country thing is and how his mom is misusing her power and then just...not actually go anywhere with that??

Who would have guessed the title of a book might as well make up its whole review?

Bottom line: weird as fuck.

I liked a few of the stories in this collection a lot. Lemony Snicket's introduction was wonderful, Clement Freud's story, "Grimble" was really enjoyable, and George Saunders's "Lars Farf: Excessively Fearful Husband And Father" was hilarious. Neil Gaiman's piece was good, but not great, and Jonathan Safran Foer's piece was beautifully written, but not a very interesting story. The other short stories were mediocre and forgettable, which brought the collection down a bit. Overall, I'd recommend it for the four stories mentioned, but the others could all be skipped.

There were only two stories I really enjoyed. As always though, McSweeney's outshines all with their aesthetically pleasing binding and artwork.

I had two stories to go, and I quit. I do not recommend this. It's mediocre at best.

An anthology of ridiculous stories that will make you laugh. My favorite was The ACES Phone, a story about a phone that connects you to the feelings of all the dogs in your area. A light-hearted anthology read that is supposedly horror, but is honestly just ludicrous fun.
