Loved it! This 4th book in the series is almost up to par with the first! An absolute delight to read. Full of adventure, intrigue, steampunk tendencies, and, of course, the supernatural. What fun! For anyone that trudged through books two and three, hang on because book 4 makes up for it!

Much better than the previous one, although I've honestly had to just pretend parts of the married relationship don't exist to get through the series - if my husband had said the things to me that Lord Maccon had said, we would no longer be on speaking terms. I have really struggled with that.
THAT SAID, the series is really picking up. I love the plot and twists and bumps and races. The history of the minor characters is developing nicely, and Lyall is still my favorite. (Biffy second, Lord Akel-whatever third. I can't spell his name.)

One of the best books in the series so far - the author has settled comfortably into the world and the characters (as one would hope after four books) are well established. Gone are some of the more clunky dialogues and inconsistencies which significantly helps the flow of the story. I'm starting to feel very rewarded as a reader and am starting to get a bit nervous that the series is nearly over!
