I was entertained but it did drag a tad and got slow. I stopped for a bit and came back forgetting some stuff also Crew seemed to cause a very random climax so idk if it’s bc of my pause while reading or the author didn’t build this character enough for the climax to feel legit

This slow burn, office romance, friends-to-lovers was such a quick and adorable book!
I loved Layla, Luke & Nathan. Their pranks at work were fun. This is my second from the author Juliana Smith and she became an auto buy author for me instantly.

The premise of this book is two friends who work in the same office have feelings for each other and they both think they will only be best friends forever. They are both okay with this as long as they get to continue spending time with the other person. I was interested in this book because it gave The Office/Pam & Jim vibes. I think it leaned too much into that and it was sad that both characters were willing to stay at dead end jobs to spend time with one another instead of pursuing their dreams. For me that's not something I would want a younger version of me reading and thinking that was how people should approach relationships. Ultimately at the end the relationship was healthier but for that majority of the book it felt like Layla and Luke were very codependent on each other.

The love story in itself was tough for me to believe. How were both main characters so oblivious that the other was in love with them when ALL of their friends and family were telling them otherwise? I love a slow burn but this one felt like it went on forever. It did take 85% of the book according to my Kindle for either of them to make a substantial move.

I will say outside of my major problems with the main story, I did enjoy the supporting characters and their personalities. I thought they added to the story and Nathan was one of my favorite people.

If you are into slow, slow burns, friends to lovers or found family you should pick this up and see what you think.

This book is available May 6! Thank you Juliana Smith & NetGalley for providing an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

3⭐️ I had fun while reading this and I thought I would give it 4 or 5 stars but after 60% in the book I started to get annoyed by the whole topic of Luke not wanting to make something with his life because he didn’t wanted to quit his job just to be with Layla. Like huh? You can be successful somewhere else and still talk with Layla.. whatever. Aside from that the book is too cheesy but kind of tolerable, not too bad. Hoping that I like calla and Nathan’s book more

Per My Last Email
Rating: ★★★★.5

Read if you like:
・ The Office
・ Friends-to-lovers
・ Mutual pining
・ Dual POV
・ Closed-door
・ Workplace romance
・ Found family

Per My Last Email is a fun and captivating contemporary romance full of love, laughter, and heart-warming antics. Juliana Smith perfectly captures the frightening uncertainty that two friends experience before ‘taking the jump’ and declaring their love for each other. Luke and Layla share a series of swoon-worthy moments that are guaranteed to make you audibly “awe,”laugh your shirt off (is that the expression?), or cry your eyes out. While this is technically a slow-burn, closed-door romance, the tension is there from the get-go. I promise that when you pick this book up (because you undoubtedly must), you will never check what page you're on or how much is left because you’ll never want this story to end.

Huge thanks to the author for gifting me an early copy to read and review!

fmc is the epitome of “not like other girls.” the way she talks about other woman is gross. i couldn’t even force myself to continue, which is rare.
