I went into this book thinking I had enjoyed the author's other book, THE DEAD ROMANTICS, and so I was excited to see what she came up with this time. When I looked back at my review of THE DEAD ROMANTICS, however, that book was actually a middle of the road, three-star read.

I'm glad I hadn't looked at that review before starting this because it may have deterred me from reading. Poston's books are bingeable, and I listened to this in two sittings within a 24-hour period. The characters in this book were so likable, and you will find yourself rooting for them every step of the way. This book is magical and whimsical with themes of family, grief, and friendship woven in. The author's note at the end tied everything together beautifully and made the story feel even more heartfelt. I definitely recommend the audiobook for this one, and I'm interested to see what Poston comes out with next!

The Seven Year Slip was the perfect, most tender hearted story that delicately intertwined the journey of both love and grief. Iwan and Clementine are wonderfully written characters, both of which I came to love quickly and easily. The story does such a good job making you think what you’d want to know about yourself if you went back in time seven years. Then, what would you be like seven years in the future? So much love, life, and loss can happen in seven years that it can’t help but change you. The Seven Year Slip also does a great job at conveying that sometimes people don’t have it all together or think they’re following their passions but also how dreams can change over time. It also shows that sometimes we have to say goodbye to a past version of ourselves and that’s okay. Everyone is experiencing grief in one shape or form and that is a part of life.

Pretty sure I’m going to be recommending this book to everyone I know! I read it so fast that I’m already thinking of rereading and also a delicious lemon pie.

Note: this book does deal with sad topics but ultimately it is a really lovely story.

TW: Grief, somewhat off page suicide, brief mention of dementia
