This fast-paced fantasy had me on my toes throughout the entire novel!! A great read, especially since the plot development is fast-paced and exciting! I loved the progression of Amelia and Alev's relationship and was excited to see its growth. I'm excited for the next installment in this series!! Courtney Thorne fan for SURE, right here!! :)

Although, I enjoyed this book a lot. It didn’t completely hook me until the second half of the book.
There were a few grammatical errors, which caused me to lose immersion and confused me from time to time. There was even a sentence that was cut abruptly and left me puzzled.
Will be waiting for the next book, since I do enjoy the story for this series.

Oh my, this book was exactly what I wanted.

Book 2 starts off right where book 1 ends. This book is full of secrets, banter, tension, emotion, and political navigation. Aurelia grows more into the young woman she is and needs to be. We get to see more of the Princes, but I definitely have my favorite. I was cheering for that one from the first book.

That dancing scene at the festival.. iykyk.. I was grinning, laughing, and loving that twist, but I had a feeling that would happen. This book is fast-paced and captivating. I loved getting to see more of the realm and the royals. The surprises and twists were mostly able to be predicted, but I still loved seeing them and how they played out. I can't wait to see what happens after the end of book 2.

I enjoyed this book much more than the first one. Aurelia was just a lot less whiney and “reactive” in this one. Don’t get me wrong she has every right to all of her big emotions I just felt like the way she acted in the first one was childish. And she was wrote to act more mature in this one. She had a better handle on things and I loved seeing her be a bad ass.

I won’t lie. I thought I was being Tamlin’d. If you know you know. But then I ended up sobbing my eyes out at the end so a cruel plot twist in my opinion.

I love love LOVE the romance in this. It’s so endearing, hopeful, and real. We all need someone to be there for us when we wake up from a nightmare.

I didn’t know this was going to have a third book or i probably would have waited to read because it does end kind of abruptly. But the ending really surprised me.

I knew there was something off about her. Like she had all these extra powers that didn’t really make sense for the spirit world. Like her being able to have dreams with people, and the controlling the shadows, and people’s thoughts. And the fact that she had 3 unique powers. I was like yep something is up. But I did not guess that there was going to be a shadow man that came out at the end and was like “Luke I am your father” type deal. And the fact that there was this secret deal made. I am so intrigued. I need the next book now.

“Every waking second of my life, since we first met as Briar and Llyr…” He looked away from me momentarily, taking a deep breath. Slowly, he took steps closer to me again, like a prowling beast. “Every fucking second I’m awake, you are on my mind. I’ve never—not once—been able to think of anyone but you. It’s always you. It’s always been you. And it will always be you. Nothing will change that. If you would have married my brother, it would still have been you. If you leave right now and I never see you again, it will still be you. There is no one for me but you, Aurelia. If that means that I stand aside and watch you fall in love with someone else, if you walk away from me and never look back, I will be plagued with thoughts of you the rest of my life.” This is one of the best parts of the entire book.  Been a long time since a love confession really made me cry.

From the moment I started this book, I could not put it down.  The plot twists, the growth of Aurelia,  and the relationship development was captivating. The first part was a bit slow but when it picked up it was definitely an engaging read. I was fortunate enough to be an ARC reader for the 1st book amd even more grateful to be one for the second book as well.

First half: 1 ⭐️
Second half: 4.5 ⭐️

The first half of this draaaaagged. Aurelia’s relationship with Alev gave me the ick, nothing was happening and Aurelia still wasn’t wearing shoes anywhere. I liked getting to see another piece of the larger world but that’s it. I truly almost DNFed this which I never do.

The second half was waaaay better! Action, intrigue, romance, politics, twists etc. I’m glad I pushed through but it was painful to get here
