The Strange Power was, simply, lots of fun! A clever concept, exploring psychic powers and telepathy, made for an interesting read. I like Rob and Kaitlyn together (even if they're a little cheesy), but there is definitely some chemistry between Kaitlyn and bad-boy Gabriel. Lewis and Anna are lovely characters as well; I especially enjoy Anna's Native American heritage and how it plays into her animal-speaking powers. I will hopefully read the next books, because it is a fun, exciting story.

Kaitlyn has always felt different. She sees images that appear to be visions of future events. She can’t control them, but she would like to. When she’s given the opportunity to study somewhere that promises to help her to do this, she jumps at the chance. What could go wrong?
Kaitlyn and the four other teens taken to participate in this trial are put under the care of Mr Zetes. A wealthy man, with a passion to help, is how he’s presented…and from the outset it’s evident there’s more to his plans. A little snooping and we learn this isn’t the first group who’ve been assembled.
From the off we sense we’re witnessing something odd. The fun lay in the kids working out and then the inevitable battle as they fight to survive this experience.
Of course there’s more to this. Mr Zetes is quite barmy. The paranormal experiments sound crazy…but love the idea. The end hints at a potential clash to come.

I really enjoyed this. Yes there was a love triangle but it was kind of like X Men First Class where Prof Xavier was a baddy. A fun fun read.

An interesting concept that I'd like to keep reading about. Fun writing, but definitely felt like a prep book.

This was a decent book that was fun to read but it wasn't the best. Still, it was fun to read, and looking forward to reading the rest of the series.

This just didn't seem as real to me as the Night World series. Maybe it would help if I read them all three in a sitting the way I read the Night World books, all together bound, or maybe it's that each Night World story is separate, though characters walk between books, instead of one ongoing story.

Really enjoyed the book, it was a quick and quite easy going read and I found the plot the be original and interesting . However, as always there are some flaws- firstly I found that from the beginning the romance between kait and rob to be too quick and a little too predictable. For instance, from quite early on kait expresses a dislike and disinterest in the male sex but then within a few hours she has fallen head over heels for the sexy rob. I'm sure I'm not the only one who saw that by stating this disinterest L J was clearly leading us to a romance and there really is nothing wrong with that except that it seemed that kait almost instantly disposed of her opinion of boys for her new found love with hardly any decision time. Secondly, as soon as I read the name Gabriel Wolfe I wanted to kick L J for using it. I mean using Gabriel is bad enough but using Wolfe as well was almost like she picked the names directly out of the YA fiction cliche pot and she didn't even let you forget about the connotations of name as throughout the novel Gabriel was like some kind of dark angel or a lone wolf and moved like a wolf and acted like a wolf and I have to say that we get it, he is like a wolf.
These problems aside I did rather enjoy the book. It was a pleasant and slightly fluffy book that was an excellent release after my last read which was rather heavy going, dark and morbid. I have read some of L J s other books such as night world and the forbidden game and i have also enjoyed the tv series based on her works ( not tvd, the secret circle) and like some others I did notice that this didn't seem to be as dark, however I wasn't too unhappy about it as I found her writing still had the original take on the paranormal that I have come to know from her other works.

I enjoyed but didn't LOVE this book. The plot was quite suspenseful, which was nice, but I sort of felt like it went way too fast. Like I would have appreciated a bit more build-up of detail about the characters, setting, etc.
SpoilerAlso the whole "I AM IN LOVE WITH ROB" thing was a bit much to me. So after one day, she looooves him in this groundbreaking way? I was prepared to believe she was admitting infatuation but omg... real love? :P "I LOOKED INTO HIS GOLDEN EYES" ugh...
