Molly never disappoints! Snarky and fun, great novella addition to the Half Moon Hollow series. My only complaint... I want more!

Ophelia like you've never seen her before!!

I thought this book was going to be about Jamie, Jane's vampire childe, but instead it's about his girlfriend, the centuries old Ophelia Lambert. For various crimes, she is stripped of her job at the Council and sent off to college to live in a dorm, take classes with human and vampire students, and deal with a super messy, crazy, klepto roommate. There are many many hilarious moments! If you're a fan of the Jane Jameson series and the Half Moon Hollow series, you'll find this as funny as I did. If you haven't read up to at least Dating a Rebound Vampire, you may get a little lost on the back stories. Same for people new to the series, there is a lot of back story that is in all the previous books, and you jump in here, at book seven, you may be lost with little hints to this or that happening before. But highly recommended for fans of Half Moon Hollow!!

I loved this story and seeing how Ophelia grows over the course of the quick story. However I have some theories about some things that took place. Can't wait to read the next book to continue!!!!

Ophelia is one of my favorite characters, she is pretty old but she is young too I know that kind of contradicts itself. But she really hasn’t been able to be young, now she is getting the chance to do what people her again ( not actual age ) do.

She and her man are still going strong but she needs to find out who she is without him or her sister. She gets to find friends, and be a girl. It really is a great little side story.

Love Amanda’s narration!

I loved this. I would happily read more from Ophelia's perspective.

After hiring an assassin to kill a romantic rival, Ophelia lost her job as the head of the vampire council. As penance she is forced to enrol in college and live in the campus housing with all that entails...room-mates, shared bathroom and petty theft. But the worst of all, the guy she loves, the one she hired the assassin for is suddenly more interested in going to the gym with his bros, watching football and drinking beer from a yard glass.

When building conflict into a story it's not all that uncommon for authors to go big. They create hyper characters and situations. There's nothing wrong with that but Molly Harper is always trying new things, looking for different stories to tell. And this is one of those stories. She's taken something a lot of people, particularly in the US have experienced (dorm life) and thrown vampires into the mix. But don't expect explosions. Big Vamp on Campus is a small story. A brilliant, well told, completely addictive, 5 Star, small story.

This was a nice trip into the lives of some of our Half-moon Hollow and Jane Jameson's people. With the cover being of a guy, I thought it would be in Jamie's POV but it was told 1st person in Ophelia's POV which I'm really glad of now. Jamie is easy to understand but even listening to Ophelia's thoughts, she is harder to understand. Her snark and humor made me a convert as I have really disliked her at points in the past and wanted better for Jamie. I thought this put them together nicely though for a while there I thought maybe there would be a break up. This insight into Ophelia made me like her more and accept her relationship with Jamie. It was fun to see Ophelia have to deal with something so out of her element and how it has a positive effect on her.

There is a happening that is left in the air but it doesn't effect the storyline to be able to call it a cliffhanger. You are just wondering, "what was that about?". I guess we will see in the next book.
Spoiler Ophelia is told by Jane's secretary that she wants a list of cohorts. Ophelia doesn't like it and complains, Jane responds, 'what list?'. We are left wondering.

My review and an extended sample of the audiobook are posted at Hotlistens.com.

This is the newest book in the Half Moon Hollow series. It is a novella, so it is pretty short at only about two and a half hours long. Authors are going to hate me for this, but if I’m already reading a series, I don’t read the blurbs that are provided. I just don’t. I like to go into a book blind with little idea of what is going to happen. So, going into this book, I thought the book was going to focus mostly on Jamie, since he is the vamp that is college aged. Well, I forgot all about Ophelia’s punishment. This book follows Ophelia and her time on campus. Now, that doesn’t mean that Jamie isn’t in it, of course he is, he just isn’t the focus of the story.

It was interesting seeing Ophelia having to deal with the fact that she isn’t all powerful any more. She had to follow the rules instead of creating them and punishing the ones who don’t. I enjoyed watching her learn how to actually make friends, something she has never done in the past.

The relationship with Jamie grows and she finally learns to be someone without him, which is the problem that got her here in the first place. She learns that she can have a life and he can have his while they both can still move together as a couple. She actually becomes a likable character. I’m interested to see where this relationship goes and where Ophelia goes now that she isn’t in charge of everything.

All in all, a cute, fun story that is everything you would expect from a Half Moon Hollow story and a must listen for all fans of the series. There spoilers in this story for an earlier book in the series, so I wouldn’t tackle this one unless you are up-to-date.

Narration
Amanda Ronconi continues to nail this series. I can’t help but wait for the audios because I feel she really brings out the snark in the stories. Molly Harper’s books are pretty strict audio only for me because of how much I love Ronconi’s narration. If you haven’t tried these books on audio, I highly recommend it.

**I like to thank the publisher for providing me with a copy of this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

I got such a kick seeing Ophelia trying to fit into the college scene. It was a whole new world for her. She had to learn how to make friends, and deal with Jamie having friends. I kind of felt bad for her trying to organize time with Jamie when he had so much going on.

Ophelia didn't really scare me in the other books, and I also didn't dislike her. I think it was her little sister that swayed me into liking her somewhat. So seeing her out of her element made me feel a bit bad for her, even though her reactions were funny as hell. After I thought about it, her reactions to some things would probably even be appropriate to other girls college or high school age. This was a good experience for her.

I am curious about the connection and communication with Jane. I'm wondering what kind of deal has really been struck here.

But in the end, the lessons Ophelia learns not only help her fit into her new life, but lead her and Jamie to a different level in their relationship.

Big Vamp on Campus was a quick read with a few laughs. You'll love Ophelia's outrageousness as she tries to aclimate to college living and not being queen of the Council. Be prepared for little on a plot line. We pretty much concentrate on Ophelia and her life on campus. Definitely a fun read though.

All other reading stops when an new Molly Harper drops!!

This novella is told from Ophelia's perspective and picks up after she's booted off the council. It's her first semester at university, and she's having a little trouble fitting in/coping/making friends/keeping her sanity. I enjoyed this one far more than I thought I would. Ophelia's backstory is known, but this short, 80 page, story really goes a long way in giving insights into her thought processes.

Totally enjoyable short read. Performed by Amanda Ronconi, who's always amazing with Molly Harper's audiobooks.
