It took me a little bit to get into this book, but I’m definitely happy I kept going!! It ended up being soo funny and intricate and I’m excited to read the second book!

I did not like the beginning at all. It got slowly better, but ended in a cliffhanger.
I want to go through all of Helen Harper's books though, so I am going to continue reading this series. It's only 3 books anyway.

I hate the amnesia trope *so* much. Except it works here. And this opener in particular is amazing.

The aspect of books I enjoy most is character development and growth. These character had depth and wit. The dialogue was fun even if a little childish from the Heroine. But the amnesia gave the whole story a mystery of good or evil. I would absolutely recommend this book.

This was fine, but it wasn't my favorite. Madrona is snarky, but in a way that didn't enamor me of her; it just became mildly annoying that she used sarcasm because she has a chip on her shoulder. I'm also not usually a fan of amnesia as a plot device. The magic system/world-building of this setting ended up feeling like it was revealed too slowly because of the main character's amnesia. It also ended abruptly on a cliff hanger.

This author writes nice UF series with some humor and romance, and I find her plucky heroines quite entertaining. This was not on par with the Lazy Witch or the Highland Magic series, but close behind. Good audio narration, nicely done amnesia plot. The hero is, as always with her, exactly the same guy. But I got the impression that the quality of her writing is improving.
It ends on a cliffhanger, as is her wont with these interconnected books.

Feels very incomplete, not just because of the cliffhanger.

Big horrible cliffhanger
Not a complete story in any sense, way or form.
This is a serial not a series.

3 1/2
1 star for the cliffhanger, almost want to take two as it is people possible dying, abduction, fleeing, cliffhanger. Be ready to read all the trilogy. I thought some of my friends were harsh with their ratings as I loved the beginning and was really enjoying most of the rest. There is a little slow down middle to end. So I'm rounding down for that reason. (After the next book, it deserves the round down and the slowing down is multiplied in the next book, drags and only moves the story forward slightly
Spoiler They are still only barely holding on to the sphere and Rubus convinces Madrona that she is responsible for closing the doorway to fairy
)

1/4 in, and this woman is a nut. It is hilarious. She finds that she has amnesia but only about herself and those that pertain to her. She has mad skills, like slowing time, so what does she decide... she's a super hero, hey because she must be good, right. And off she goes trying to help at the same time as find out who she is. She decides her super hero name is The Mad Hatter! OMG
