Love 💘 that eFFen Flowers!
You just can't go wrong with John Sandford! I've read most everything he's written, and I will definitely look forward to the next book in both series.

Not a nail biter, but I listened to it on a long drive. Solid
I will read Sandford again.

Excellent as always. Virgil Flowers always ends up in a crazy situation and you get to ride along and figure it out! Just for starters, Virgil is called out because after a siting of the Virgin Mary, someone gets killed...and it takes off from there. My only complaint is I miss Flowers working for Lucas and the discussions back and forth between them...But Jenkins and Shrake are there to you still get great dialog.

Not sure why this title, but otherwise the novel was typical John Sandford. Entertaining, well written, etc.

Typically enjoyable Virgil Flowers mystery. Kept me turning pages and guessing who the guilty party was right up until the big reveal. However, I thought the author did not show Virgil in his best light with this story. It seemed like if not for the people working with Virgil on this one, he'd still be out there in Wheatfield chasing his own tail trying to solve it. Just a small criticism though because overall I did enjoy the book and will, of course, read the next one. But I wonder if perhaps JS has run out of clever new stories for Virgil Flowers. I hope not.

Really, one you can skip. Here's all you need to know before heading into the next book of the series: Virgil and Frankie are having twins.
Domestic violence handled lightly, 3 deaths Virgil could have prevented, a deus ex machina villain, Virgil spinning his wheels for the majority of the book, and a high school student admired for his sexual escapades with older women. This book manages to insult all the genders.

Moderate: Domestic abuse

Enjoyable! In John Sandford world, I find the stories that involve Virgil’s or Lucas’s families the most compelling. However, listening to a new Virgil adventure is always entertaining. I’m hoping for more of Frankie in the next book :)
