I have never come to the end of a book and had it full of sticky notes! During the first few shows I kept stopping to look up the other bands that Frank talks about listening to and working with but I was getting nowhere because there were so many to look up that I had never heard of! So I started putting sticky notes on all the pages where there was something I wanted to look up. In the end there’s over thirty I think, I did stop a couple times when my curiosity was too big, like the house show in Philadelphia. Love the book, love seeing where Frank Turner started from! My first show was #1417 at the Toronto Urban Roots Festival, sometime after the time the book covers but maybe he’ll write another one eventually!

One of my absolute favourite musicians, and also a fantastic author! While this is all about his past experiences, it is fantastically written and incredibly intriguing, as it gives a nice insight into his life and his music. I loved reading about his unusual encounters and exciting gigs. I've been lucky enough to meet him, and he truly is a lovely man. Amazing!

Over the past 5 years, Frank Turner has fast become one of my all time favourite musicians and I have seen him live more times than any other band or musician – 11 times, as I write this.

As an excellent songwriter, I knew that he would be able to write a good book. But I didn't think it would give me quite so much more of an insight into his life on tour, the people he's met, the songs he writes and, in particular, the shows that I have been to. It's wonderful to read about FT gigs that I've been to from his perspective – although not all are mentioned in their own ‘chapters’ in this book. And I also especially liked reading about other bands that he's toured with whom I love – Chuck Ragan and the Revival Tour crew, The Menzingers, The Gaslight Anthem, Flogging Molly. Oh and the Ryan from OWTH bit was brilliant.

A must read for any FT fan, big or small, and any fan of punk rock, folk punk and alternative music in general.

Frank Turner is one of the best musicians both recorded and live. I've seen him every time he's come through town for the last 9 years and have had a blast every time. It's great to read about his touring experiences and shows from his perspective.

》Life is what you choose to make it, for the most part, and more often than not all you need to do is seize it by the throat and demand more from it.《

The more I read about and by Frank Turner, the more I like - maybe love - him. This is an excellent, incredibly well written book that makes me want more.

This is a must read for any Frank Turner fan. It was excellent to read some of the backdrops of what was occurring around his life around various points of song writing, hear some tales of what life on the road is like and the shenanigans that ensue. It's honest and down to earth. At times it felt like the story was lost to the credits of Frank's life, but these were people and places that were clearly important to the moment so that can be forgiven.
The short snippets made it good to read in odd moments, and I found myself matching his records to my reading, and drawing it out over long periods to enjoy the music and the stories together.
Lastly, being on the road for work myself, this book is strangely relatable, I have no idea where Frank gets his enduring energy from.
