I felt like I'm not smart enough to fully understand this book, but I kept reading to get to the few sentences every couple pages that made so much sense I had to sit and think for a while. The topics don't flow very well, but I think that's what makes it feel more real, like you are processing things right along with the author.

Raw and poetic and vulnerable account of the authors life that lets you feel like you are not alone.

A compelling essay collection. Like Carmen Maria Machado's In the Dream House, and oft-excruciating depiction of an abusive lesbian relationship. Also reminiscent of Lelie Jamison's The Recovering, the addictive behavior, in this case a destructive love affair, goes on so long that it becomes painful to read. Febos is an excellent writer of embodied prose.
