This book had me in its grip! I loved the multi-perspective writing and it really helped to push the story along. All of the story parts fit well into the ending and everything wrapped up in a fitting manner. The reader got what they wanted but also it was a roller coaster to get there and it was perfect for spooky season if only because things like what happened in the book actually do happen in real life! Great read!

Great, great book! Well-developed story and characters; it actually reminds me of some books by Harlan Coben and Stephen King. It’s a slow burn suspense story that ties together a child killer from 20 years ago to a new child abduction and murder case. Thanks to Celadon books for the ARC — releases August 20

I got this book as an ARC from Celadon Books. It grabbed me from the beginning and kept me on the edge of my seat. The twists and turns got me every time. I look forward to reading more from this author.

Serial killers. Abducted children lured out of their homes by a whispering man. Scary, neighborhood houses. Children chanting menacing rhymes. Imaginary friends. The boy in the floor. All of this brought back memories of my childhood and scary stories at pijama parties.
“If you leave a door half open, soon you'll hear the whispers spoken. If you play outside alone, soon you won't be going home. If your window's left unlatched, you'll hear him tapping at the glass. If you're lonely, sad, and blue, the Whisper Man will come for you.” Needless to say this Fall my windows will remain closed and both of my doors latched.
Alex North’s debut novel is amazing. I heard that the European version is different than the American so I’m looking forward to reading it. I enjoyed reading this thrilling novel during the month of October. Alex has great pacing and his language is beautiful but still easy to read and follow. He kept me engaged the whole time and the switching of characters in every chapter was also perfect.
This book gives a whole new meaning to hearing people whisper.
