2020 - A second read.

Oh, my heart! The second read feels just as fresh as the first one. I remembered precisely how the words on the pages made me feel the first time when I read it again this time around. This had been one of the first books that shifted my worldview. For that, this book is and will always be close to my heart.

“There is no act more wretched than stealing, Amir,”

"I wondered if that was how forgiveness budded, not with the fanfare of epiphany, but with pain gathering its things, packing up, and slipping away unannounced in the middle of the night."

Guilt, friendship, relationship, regrets, love, and many more essential human emotions nicely handled in this one. There is so much for me to say but so little I can put into actual words. Favorite!

-----
I have been putting off this book for quite a long time because I did not really enjoy Khaled Hosseini's 'And the Mountains Echoed' and thought this book would be somewhat similar. After reading numerous reviews about this book, I thought why not give it a go, and little did I know how much this book was going to impact me.

All those little adventures of Amir and Hassan have reminded me of my childhood. The friendship of Amir and Hassan, even though Amir was not very well genuine with it, is an inspiration. This story has made me reflect upon myself, of the person I am.

Every character had an impacting role to play. My favorite was Hassan. Poor man, he died without knowing who he really was. And all the sacrifices he made are good lessons for readers.

Overall, it was a quick read, but definitely a memorable one.

Aborda assuntos como a família, o ciúme, a cobardia, o medo, o sacrifício, a culpa, a expiação, a liberdade, a guerra... .

Nice when reading things happening at Afghanistan. but when the story moved to America, things are more cinematic & predictable. Liked the narration. It was fascinating to read the different worlds of Amir & Hassan, their priorities, childishness, beliefs etc.
