“You wanted to play with the big boys, baby, so let’s play.”

If you haven’t read the first three books in this series and plan too, there will be spoilers about those books in this review. There will not be spoilers about this book in this review.

I enjoyed this one a lot more than the first three that’s for sure.
We saw so much more from the characters (especially Tillie and Nate). I really enjoyed the motherhood and fatherhood aspects of this book but we still got the hot and cold relationship that I expected from Amo Jones.

This book pulled at all my emotions, I think I cried multiple times but it was just so addictive that even through my tears I kept reading.
I really love Tillie, she has been an interesting character and she can hold her own that’s for sure. Nate has definitely had moments where I was like…wanting to hate him but can’t.
I also liked how there was moments about grief, I do however feel that said grief was dealt with fairly quickly but altogether I really am loving this.

I can’t wait to start the next book in this series and I hope I get some answers especially after that cliffhanger!!

Please check TWs and CWs as this has very dark subjects, 18+

Happy reading 🤍

It has been over a week now since I finished this book and I'm still not sure I'm in the right headspace about it to get all of my thoughts out and into a review lol. 😅 This is one of those series that sucks you in and holds you hostage. No matter what you do you keep coming back to it over and over until you get to the end. No matter how much it hurts. No matter how scrambled it makes your brain. You have to have the answers so it must be finished. Yet with each book as questions are answered more arise. I have a better idea about what is going on with this secret society now than I did with the first three books. I still feel like I have no clue what is going on haha but it's slowly coming together piece by piece. I'm just taking it one book at a time hoping it will all click into place in the end.

So this book focuses more on Nate and Tillie. Let me tell you I was constantly being kicked in the gut in the other books by Bishop so I thought nothing could hurt worse than that. HAH! Let me introduce you to Nate when he's in love. 😩 Whew - this guy stabbed me straight in the chest several times and he absolutely did not give a flying fuck about doing so. The things he and Tillie go through for most of the book had so much angst that I was nearly physically ill haha. 😂 It is wild! But then Nate has these moments that just melt your heart and what do I do? Completely forget about all of the horrible crap he's done until the next time he does something awful... you honestly can't help yourself lol that's just his personality working its magic.

As for Tillie, I am loving the role she wound up having in their lives even if she is against claiming it. She went from being an outsider who had a ticket in with her best friend to someone that could hold so much power that the Kings would do anything to stop her from reaching out and taking it. So much so that it has me wondering if there is a line that they won't cross to make sure she doesn't, even if it breaks one of their own in the process... 👀

There was a moment in this story that seriously gutted me though. I had to put it down for a few days because I was scared to pick it back up and find out what happened next. My heart needed time to process it. Then I dived back in and the plot twist of an ending I got hit with had my head spinning! I mean... What. A. Cliffhanger!!! 🤯🤯

I must read the next book. I will definitely read the next book. But lord have mercy I need time to recover from everything that is well, Nate and the bomb that went off in the last like 20ish pages. So once again The Elite Kings have gotten me all messed up in the head over their story lol. But it is so good I refuse to stop. At this rate, it may take me another year or two before I finish it hahaha but it will happen! 😆

This is not a book or series that the TW can be skipped over trust me. So check that and check it well before starting.
