We continue to travel in the Up and Under with Avery and Zib who try to find their way home. I loved how we kept exploring adult concepts through the lens of children and their magical friends. Yet, somewhere I also felt that the first book was more packed with action. I had a good time, and the audiobook is great for keeping one company while cleaning the house, but it wasn't as engaging as the previous one.

I enjoyed this piece of the Up-and-Under story. I look forward to seeing the adventure continue.

This is a case where the sequel is just as good as the first book.

We continue to get the lovely and whimsical character interactions, as well as more worldbuilding. The world is just as charming, with just the touch of darkness that makes it feel realistic without being so dark it loses the middle grade charm.

I feel even more strongly that this series is like a cozy fantasy version of a Door-world you would find in the Wayward Children series. I'm excited to see how many entries this adventure is going to be.

The sequel to Over the Woodward Wall, Along the Saltwise Sea continues the journey of Avery and Zib. They are stuck in a land, reminiscent of the classical Wonderland, following the Improbable Road to get home. But not all paths are straight.

Baker instills their whimsical, fairytale narrative to invite readers into a world much beyond what we know. The narrators voice is straightforward in a very amusing way, not shying away from the ridiculousness of the tale. A fantastic followup to a wonderful series of wholly engaging novellas.
