I really enjoyed it. Although, it was not nearly as complex, or as good, as the first one. I think because when a “bad” character has good qualities or does good deeds it is less troublesome than when the hero does horrible things. The gladiator stuff was fun, but felt a little forced, a little side questy. It should have had more impact on him and his skills.

I really enjoyed this one! It was a little disjointed, but I very much liked Bane as a protagonist. The emotional moments landed well and though I disliked certain tropes, overall this was a fun read.

I like some of the concepts of this book/series actually, makes me wish for simpler times. Anyhow, somewhat predictable apart for one thing which shall not be spoilt, but that thing was kind of hamfisted so whatever. Going to read some other thing as palette cleanser before the next one though, had enough of broody angry dudes for a long while.
