The first thing one notices about this book is the really colourful cover. It’s both enticing and inviting and very appropriate for the story contained within.

This is a good little story with lots of fun, frivolity, and adventures as the title suggests. It showcases how one person (in this case a fairy) can make a significant difference in the world and bring about change (a theme that is just as important now as it has ever been). The story moves quickly and I’m sure would keep the interest of young children. The descriptions are vibrant and effective without being overdone and unnecessarily wordy which tends to spoil a story. The story also shows how fear can trap people stopping themselves and others from exploring and how this in turn prevents growth and development. Some people may think this is a didactic style of writing but I must disagree - this is first and foremost a children’s story designed to be fun and colourful which it achieves successfully.

However, the news isn’t all good unfortunately. When reading the book I noticed a few grammar issues which should be addressed, especially as it is likely to be read by young children who are still learning English. On page 8 there is a comment about Lola sharing some news with her ‘bestest’ friends. The term ‘bestest’ is not correct and should be replaced with ‘best of’ instead. I also noticed that the possessive ‘s’ was often omitted and at other times it was included so I ask myself if the ones that were omitted was accidental and got missed in the editing process. In spite of this I still enjoyed the story, the characters, the scenery, and the ending.

Lola is a 13-year-old fairy with a great imagination. So great, in fact, that it often gets her into trouble. So, when a new teacher, Mr. Holt, appears at Lola's school, and she hears whispers about something terrible that will happen soon - something that has apparently happened before - Lola recruits her two best friends, Allie and Jet, to join in the investigation. Because Lola knows it's something bad. And Lola also knows that she's destined to save her world.

But when no one will believe what she and her friends discover, Lola knows that she has to take drastic action. As she does, Lola will learn a lot about herself and her world. But, will Lola be able to use her new knowledge to save her friends and family from the upcoming danger?

This was a fun story. Lola is a rambunctious character who has a big heart. The fairy world that is described is really well-developed. Though the writing is somewhat simplistic, I think it would suit a younger middle-grades reader really well. The mystery of what happened in the past, and why Lola's community is the way it is, is handled really well - as is the mystery surrounding the new teacher and why he is even there.

Though the antagonists of the story are pretty stereotypical, and the dialogue discussing said antagonists were also fairly predictable (it reminded me a lot of the dialogue from 80s cartoons), it still works for the story. After reading this story, I found myself hoping that I would have a silver aura and perhaps discover some tricks of my own.

An enjoyable story of the powers of fairies and what can happen when you hide things, big things from children. The story always gets out. I enjoyed her take on their interactions with humans but i found that the characters did not grow in depth and some of the plot lines were a little too predictable or forced at times. Yet well written with a lot of action none the less.

I received a copy of this book in a giveaway.

I was initially drawn to this book because it looked like a fun read and the cover really caught my eye.

This was a nice quick read and we get to go along with Lola on her adventure with her friends, Jet and Allie. I liked that the main character was a strong female. I loved that Harley wrote Lola for young readers to see.

I did have some issues with the book. There were several grammatical errors which should have been corrected when being edited. There were so many randomly emphasized words that it got to be a bit out of hand, and some of the words that were being used I wasn't sure would even be in that age group's vocabulary. Finally, while I enjoyed the story, I didn't feel like there was any surprises in the story but rather it kind of followed a straight line, so to speak, and we knew what was going to happen next.

Overall this was a nice story that was enjoyable with a strong female lead.
