Everyone should definitely read this book. Very easy to pick up and read an excerpt or two. Amazing to read all the stories of the women in WWII and all the things they saw and experienced.

oral history of soviet women in wwii NUTS. censorship discussion from early 00s after USSR fell is fascinating. how the book was only published because of gorbachev + glasnost. no printer would touch it because of the content. then 2 million copies printed just like that. AND all the things in the book she added from the censors/self censorship. bruh.

Tot un exercici de periodisme i reivindicació d'unes veus ignorades per la Història (la de la majúscula).
Tot i que es pot fer una mica repetitiu a estones, sempre hi ha algun detall que fa aquell testimoni únic i colpidor. Em quedo amb les petites coses, les insignificàncies del dia a dia de les dones a la guerra. Em quedo esparverada al veure com la URSS i la societat, el poble, va tractar després a aquestes heroines (esgarrifós). Em quedo amb les criatures i tot el que s'hi explica.
Molt recomanable!

This was an incredible book! Taking the stories of different Russian women during WWII was a great idea and Svetlana Alexievich perfectly captured the stories of these heros! A genuinely phenomenal non-fiction book!

گاهی واقعا حسرت میخورم که زندگی آدما ها در یه جمله: «جنگ جهانی تمام شد» خلاصه میشه.
به حرف ویرجینیا وولف اعتقاد دارم که زندگی تک تک این آدما و داستان هاشون مهمه.

Mimo całego naturalizmu i dokumentalizmu, wizja wojny "od strony kobiet" wydała mi się dziwnie ugrzeczniona, odkażona, wyidealizowana. Sanitariuszki, żołnierki, praczki wspominają żołnierzy, z którymi walczyły, w mało realistyczny sposób (wygląda na to, że dzisiejsze wojsko mogłoby się od Armii Czerwonej uczyć jak zwalczać gwałt w szeregach, bo tam go nie było - kto by pomyślał, dzisiaj jest powszechny, i to nawet poza strefami konfliktów). Rzekome braterstwo i siostrzaństwo podważone jest tylko przez jedną z kilkudziesięciu (a może i ponad stu) kobiet, która stwierdza, że sypiała w ziemiance dowódcy, bo inaczej gwałciliby ją koledzy. Poza tym raz dowiadujemy się o gwałconych Niemkach. Ludność (nawet, po części, w Niemczech) wita Armię Czerwoną entuzjastycznie. Zupełnie się to nie zgadza z opowieściami słyszanymi "po naszej stronie", które zawierają dobrych Rosjan, ale, mówiąc delikatnie, nie tylko (a trochę mi o Armii Czerwonej i wyzwalaniu opowiadali). Ciekawe, na ile wynika to z niechęci tych kobiet do opowiadania o tym, co wstydliwe, na ile z wybiórczości pamięci, a na ile z cenzury.
Najciekawsze było dla mnie chyba, gdy mówiono o tym, co spotkało te kobiety po wojnie, i chyba najbardziej przejmujące.
