At the end of Shades of Wicked, Veritas saved Ian from the demon Dagon. But as a result, Ian's memories have been fragmented. But he realizes his memories are messed up. So he's determined to fix them and find Veritas. While at the same time Veritas has a mission from her father to return the missing souls that escaped when she saved Ian from Dagon.

This book only adds to the richness of the Night Huntress world. There's so much action and adventure in this series. I love how Frost expands upon the Night Huntress world in these. It makes it so much more layered and in depth with everything added to it. From magic to different kinds of creatures, everything revealed is so exciting and interesting.

We also learn a lot more about Veritas' heritage, family, and past that reveals some big things about her and her powers.

In this one they also travel to a hidden island filled with a mixture of all sorts of paranormal creatures. This was a fascinating adventure that I enjoyed a lot.

I absolutely love the adventure we're taken on with these two throughout this whole series! It's such a blast.

Overall it's such a great continuation. I recommend binging all of these bad boys. They are such great reads. Totally binge-worthy.

Veritas and Ian have survived one confrontation with Dagon. But Dagon is gunning for Veritas again.

I enjoyed this episode more than the first book in the series -- there are great revelations in it about Veritas' origin. And her struggles to come to grips with her complicated heritage are really great to read. And the rekindling of the love and lust between Ian and Veritas is absolutely great.

I am looking forward to reading the third book in the series. There is a lot of politics in the vampire world between this book and _A Grave Girls Getaway_, and I hope that is covered in that book.

There is some sense that the protagonists and antagonists are all becoming really wildly powered (and this is NOT the only series that happens in), and that arms race gets a bit insane.

But, still, a really fun read.

Hmmm... I really enjoyed Veritas and Ian in the first book and did enjoy the second, just not as much. The pacing felt off? Slow? And now I realize it's because there is a THIRD BOOK. WHYYYYYYYYY?

Why can't we just have nice things? A tightly packed story that focuses on defeating the Big Bad that concludes with a pretty finish and the couple living HEA is what I thought I was getting.

But no. We have a 3rd book with a surprise antagonist. I hate feeling like I'm stuck in a loop so I will probably have to put a pin in reading the 3rd until I clear out the pipes from books 1 & 2.

I re-read Shades of Wicked right before this was released and I'm glad I did. I was ready to plunge into the next book as soon as it came out this morning.

Wicked Bite is pretty much non-stop action from the first page. We had something of a cliffhanger in the 1st book, and this one begins pretty much right after that. Ian and Veritas are both extremely strong and she at least, is basically a warrior. They spend a lot of the book fighting battles. But the romance manages to pop in as well, and their chemistry is red hot.

We find out a lot about Veritas that she has been hiding for millennia, but delving into Ian's character is even more interesting. He was always the bad boy of the Cat & Bones books, and in this series we are able to see his heart rather than the facade he shows to the world.

The book ties up the main story line but sets up another for the next volume...

Cover: Hot, and interesting.
Narrator: Tavia Gilbert is amazing. I love her take on Veritas' ancient Sumerian accent.
Hogwarts Sorting Hat: Ian is definitely a Slytherin. Veritas has been masquerading as a Gryffindor. I think there are Gryffindor parts to her, but I also think she would be sorted as a Slytherin as well.

Themes: vampires, demons, friends

I'm really enjoying the Night Rebel series. Veritas and Ian have that special something. They merge well together.

There doesn't appear to be any limit to "powers" characters take on in Jeaniene Frost's universe. It seems to be getting a bit astronomical which each book. I hope Frost pulls back on the reins before it gets stupid.

Putting the powers aside, this was a fantastic book and I can't wait until the next one.

This series is amazing. I don't think there is anything can truly say at this point that won't spoil any part of this series or those previous, so let me just say I love these characters and I'm so looking forward to the next book!

This book was fine. I didn't think the beginning was slow like some people stated. The beginning was more focused on romance which I liked... That being said, the writing feels YA (so. many. exclamation. points.) and even the emotional moments felt very forced. There were points where the tone turned preachy whenever a character got over a hurdle. Not what I expected from a book written by a well established author.

The references to modern celebrities were so cringe too and it really took me out of the story. And the plot! There were certain points where the plot didn't make 100% sense - like how the main characters suddenly knew something.

TLDR: Romance is fine, plot is fine (with some holes) Random references to modern day celebrities/characters were weird.
