Anyone who follows Mrs Hinch on Insta knows exactly what to expect from this book - a bit of fun, a lot of Zoflora and nothing too intellectually taxing. This is a light hearted wee book purely for fans of Soph and her hilarious take on cleaning. I love her for who she is - a bit obsessed, a bit crazy, and hugely likeable. I am not a very good housekeeper, but Mrs Hinch makes cleaning almost look fun and her Insta stories always make me laugh. I'd actually only bought this book because, as someone who has struggled with her weight for years I was curious to know more about Soph after seeing that she previously had too. She does touch on this, as well as her struggles with anxiety, but it isn't a deep dive. And I respect that - just because she's Instafamous doesn't mean she needs to lay herself bare. This book is pretty basic, both in terms of how it's written and in the tips it covers, but I think that's great - it appeals to her fan base, they don't want a literary tome, and it collates together all her tips into one place. Yes, if you've been on her Insta long enough then you probably have seen them all, but this is a way to have them all in one collection. I thought it was interesting to read about the woman behind the account, and I'm not as skeptical about her as a lot of people are. If she's earning for pushing certain products, who cares? If this book is just to capitalise on her current popularity, who cares? Because the products work, you'll only buy this book if you're a fan, and why shouldn't she make a bit of money for all the effort she puts into her account...isn't that what influencers everywhere do? I'll admit, this could have done with a bit more editing, and I'd have loved some photos, but I wasn't disappointed and I'll definitely refer to it to try and up my hinching game! All the best ;)

I thought this book would have more practical tips than it did. I didn’t want to know she had a gastric band fitted and kept it a secret, or that she was once locked out of school in the rain and her mum saw an took her home. I wanted to know how to scrub a sink and quick fixes to help clean and organise my house... just not what I thought it would be.

Wasn’t expecting much obviously as with most online celebs you can learn all about them online. There’s nothing to read really but the cleaning tips, organising tips etc will come in useful. Saves me scrolling through hundreds of Facebook groups to solve my housework woes 🙈 (as it’s all in one place in the book).

I did think the diary parts were unnecessary and a ‘page filler’ as were the songs etc.

But those who are part of the Hinch army will love this. So if you love Sophie and are into the cleaning craze that’s happening right now, then it’s worth a buy just to say you have it.

I wasn’t really sure how to rate this to be honest. The reason I’ve given it two stars is because it’s advertised as a book to give you hints and tips on cleaning your home where in actual fact it’s Mrs Hinch’s biography. She comes across very likeable and I enjoyed the stories she told but I really don’t think the book is advertised as it should be. There’s no cleaning tips in there at all just a list of cleaning products used so it was a total waste of my time really.

I honestly picked up this book thinking it was like a cleaning tips book with probably a kind style of teaching. If there are (not obvious) tips in this book, I didn't see them cause I didn't get that far

It's not a bad book. I think I'm just probably not the target audience. If I'd known this was mainly an influencer book I wouldn't have picked it up. I didn't mind that the author talked about how she got Instagram famous but I when she started talking about naming her cleaning tools and stories behind it. I became sure the book was not for me

Hinch Yourself Happy by Mrs Hinch is a guide for how to clean your house, and how to enjoy yourself whilst doing it!

It has a lot of stories from Mrs Hinch's personal life, such as how she met her husband, lots of recommendations for cleaning products, how to clean things, and space for you to write your own lists in, things that make you happy, and things like bits you want to declutter.

I discovered Mrs Hinch on Instagram in August last year, but I'm afraid I don't remember how, although I remember Caroline Hirons mentioned her.

Definition: 'Hinching', which is often taken to mean cleaning, but I would define it as using one of the many hints and tips from Mrs Hinch, such as diluting fabric softner with water, put in a spray bottle, and then spray on clothes or bedding to freshen up the scent.

You might have seen Mrs Hinch on This Morning, or in the papers! Either way, she's got 2.4 million followers on Instagram, and inspires people to clean. I think it's because she's the first person I've found cleaning her own home with the products, so I could trust her recommendations.

Definition: 'Hinch haul', which is buying multiple cleaning products, possibly buying more than you need, so you can stock up your Narnia (a store cupboard in your house or garage for extra supplies of cleaning products). Popular stores to carry out a Hinch Haul: B&M, Home Bargains, Poundland, little shops with cleaning products in. Products typically purchased: cleaning products Mrs Hinch uses, cleaning clothes, and baskets for storing these things in!

I thought this book is an ideal gift to give to someone leaving home for the first time, or first time buyers, because there's lots of information on how to clean things, and how to make your house a home.

Whilst there is a contents page, I think this book could have benefited from an index page, and it would have turned a nice book into a really useful home help!

Hinch Yourself Happy was published on 4th April 2019, and is available on Amazon to buy on Kindle and on Waterstones. I've found a link to where you can search for local bookshops, including independent!
