These essays are so different from what Wallace Shawn would say in pretty much any role he has played, so, as much as I tried, it felt weird to read it in his voice. That’s pretty sad — he has the best voice in the world.

A tight collection of previous published essays, speeches, and interviews from playwright, actor, and artist Wallace Shawn. The first part of the collection deals with real-world issues in the late 20th century and part two turns to the philosophical in art and artistic pursuits. Surprisingly, I thought the first part was stronger than the second.

a great examination of art & privilege with a few great political essays thrown in as well.
