**Only reviewing the story by Sherrilyn Kenyon**

I would have liked a longer story for Fury, but I believe everything was explained well enough to learn about his past. One thing that I appreciate about Kenyon is that she can bring all the important details from previous books in a short manner. There have been authors I've read in the past that seem to feel the need to spend pages and pages rehashing each of the previous books or stories, whereas Mrs Kenyon tells only the important information that pertains to the current story. It may leave readers with questions about why or how something came to be, but what better way to sell more books? If you do a complete recap of all the previous happenings in each book, why would the reader need to go back to read those previous books? It works out perfectly the way Kenyon does it, by just giving the bare minimum of details, so as not to leave the reader confused, but not give away everything that has happened that is actually irrelevant to what is currently going on.

Dead After Dark by Sherrilyn Kenyon

I really enjoyed Fury's love story (though I read it out of order)! I am not a huge fan of the shorter novels but she did a good job of picking a character that the reader already knew enough about to throw in the middle of the story.

The four stories in this collection are all highly entertaining. The best of the best is J.R. Ward's "The Story of Son." It's not part of her Black Dagger Brotherhood storyline, but it's excellent, with a truly engaging heroine and a darkly romantic, tragic hero, a bit like Z in the Brotherhood. (And he's my favorite.) This is the first I've read from the other authors, but I'll certainly be wanting more in the future thanks to this introduction. All of the stories could be themed "They came from different worlds." Very spicy, very diverse tales, all very good.

I only read The Story of Son, since it is the only short story from a series I actually follow, so this review will be solely about it.

I will eventually read the others someday and when I do, I'll come back to update this review.

Well, this was a nice addiction to the Black Dagger Brotherhood world.

I don't usually give more than 3 stars to short stories, because I use to have issues concerning its length and how everything seems to be rushed, but that didn't happen here. It actually work and, though not as good as a full length novel, it was a pretty good story.

I loved Son/Michael. He was such a curious blend of innocence and sexuality that I couldn't not love him. Plus, how awful his life had been until he met Claire. I'm so glad that happened.

Claire was also a good heroine. I loved the fact she didn't take her frustrations out on Michael. Yes, she was scared and pissed off, but once she could see past that, she saw who he really was and that they both needed another.

I would like if Ward showed these two in future books of the series. There is definitely space for more, since they don't know if there are more vampires and where and stuff like that.

this was kinda confusing for me and how it connected to BDB do we meet Claire and Micheal in later books too?

I loved Fury's story. I wasn't too thrilled that Fury only got a small chunk for his story, but having Sasha (Astrid's wolf), Zarek, and Aimee in it made up for that. Oh, and Bride and Vane *drool*. Also, the fact that Fury spent a good amount of time naked because of his uncoordinatedness with magic. I'd pay to see that ;)

I liked The Story of Son though it was a bit *odd* to say the least. The others weren't too bad, though the last makes me wonder how it was supposedly a vampire story o.O No blood-sucking at all.

I really liked this book a lot. There are four really fantastic novellas crammed into 300 odd pages and at least two storied didn't fit into the concept.
I also don't get the title of it at all: "Dead after Dark" - great title in itself, but really not fitting the book. I mean there was no one dead after dark, the heroines of the four stories where either dead (or sleepy) during the day and mostly night active, or they didn't have any relation to the "dark" at all. That kinda stumped me. Other than that, I really loved the storied in their own right.

"Shadow of the Moon" by Sherrilyn Kenyon was a fast paced story with a lot of action and wit, but I was totally lost with the universe she created. As I haven't read any of her other book she placed in that universe, it was a lot of information crammed into too short a story to completely understand the full extent of her creative mind. Some parts I had to read twice to make the connection with all the aristo and animal stuff going on.

"The Story of Son" by J.R. Ward was actually really cute. The idea of an imprisoned vampire that is shy to the bone and would never hurt a fly, being cooped up with the witty, sensual and tomboyish heroine was funny to read. I actually enjoyed this story the most and since have re-read the story twice as I really loved it.

Susan Squired enchants us with her novella "Beyond the Night". A man out on revenge coming to learn that there are more important things than revenge itself. I loved how the author made this a standalone story that fully captured my heart. Freya is one sensual woman.

Dianna Love completes this compendium with her "Midnight Kiss Goodbye" story. I actually had a hard time following this story, as again, it had a lot of information on the universe, war and gods of the world crammed into a short story that left a little to be desired. Still, in the end, the story was fast paced and really interesting to read. I'm not sure if there is actually a series going on behind those books, but I do hope there will be a story with Lucien and Rowan someday.

All in all, for an anthology, it's a really nice book. If you're okay with reading four really different stories and gloss over the fact that some are a little too crammed with information you will enjoy this book and love their characters.
