My favourite book. This is one of the things to blame for me developing an interest in politics when I happened to spot a copy of this in a second hand (not even book) shop in Walsall many moons ago

It was really interesting reading this book immediately on the heels of Malcolm X's autobiography. I liked Malcolm X's radicality, but not so much the way he treated women and talked about them. It was so refreshing to read Davis's autobiography - someone just as radical and also feminist. Davis's book was very enlightening, not just about the particulars of her life, but also about police brutality and the history of resistance. I really enjoyed the audiobook, which was read by Davis.

I’ve always wanted to hear Davis’ story from her perspective, so in that sense I’m really glad I read the book. However, I found it a bit clunky and hard to follow at times. I listened to the audiobook so the narration might have been the issue. Either way, an important read.

Este libro es una maravilla. No solo narra hechos muy importantes del activismo negro, sino que además tiene una prosa fluída, sobria pero bella. Es imprescindible, de verdad.
