It took me a loonnggg time before finishing this book. I stopped reading halfway, because I found a short-but-not-really-short online novel and read it.

But yea, I have nothing to say about the second book, really.

||I feel so sorry for Gabriel, yes he makes some bad decisions but he has been hurt so many times he truly believes he has no good options.|| I'm still enjoying most of the characters though Lewis is annoying me a little as they dont seem to have bothered to provide him with a personality, Anna doesnt have much more but there is a little atleast. I think Kait could try to use her powers a little more, seems like it would have been helpful. Same with Anna, she could have used her ability to talk to local birds. Most of them seem reluctant to use their abilities, other than Rob ofcourse. There is no way I could read this book without wanting to read the next ||I need to know what happens, especially with Gabriel, he can't be a bad guy, he just cant.||

The Possessed is the second book of the Dark Visions trilogy by L.J. Smith.

Kaitlyn, Rob, Gabriel, Anna, and Lewis are running away from the Zetes Institute. They are still bound by the link that Gabriel inadvertently created during the first book. They are not for sure where they are going, but one night, all of them share a dream of a beach with a white house in the distance. Several times they share this dream and ask who they are and where are they. They decide to find where the place is. On the way, they have weird experiences like getting angry with each other for no reason. They soon realize that Mr. Zetes is attacking them psychically.
Kaityln soon discovers that the crystal changed Gabriel and has enhanced his power. She eventually gets Gabriel to feed on her. Later, a newcomer, Lydia, saves them after an incident. Who is she? Will they reach the destination in time or is it too late for them?

I really liked this book. I love L.J. Smith’s Nightworld series and Forbidden Game trilogy. I don’t know if I like this trilogy more than these two, but it’s definitely a contender. Now on to the next and final book!

I liked this second installment. The mythology surrounding the crystals was interesting, and the tension between Kaitlyn and Gabriel is fun, even though she clearly loves Rob. I actually hate that Gabriel is the one to go evil, especially so soon after he'd found a place of equality with the others in the group. He's much more interesting than Rob, anyway, who is just a little too golden for me. I also would love to hear more about Anna and Lewis, who are fascinating characters in their own right. Despite the fact that Mr. Z wasn't in the book, but his threats were frightening enough- I'm ready to hear more about the pilot study and his plans for the kids. Book #3, here I come!

The Possessed focuses on the journey the group take once they decide to leave Mr Zetes. Desperate to not get tainted by his evil intentions, Kaitlyn and the group decide to try and find the White House of their dreams.
They set off on a seemingly futile journey.
Along the way we see the danger to Gabriel, and Kait’s desperate attempts to feed him to prevent him harming others. The others in the group fear him, and we see they might have reason to.
This was something of a filler in terms of story. Inevitably, things go sort of to plan. The White House isn’t quite the cure they hoped, and we end the book with a very real sense of threat from Zetes.

I can't believe that the crew travels to fricken Victoria and Sooke, I was shook when I read that. I live on Vancouver Island and was rolling. However it was described very strangely and I can't tell if LJ Smith went on a trip here and was trying to recall what it was like. To be fair this book is like 30 years old but yeah lol
